Our time off together is few and far between, but when we do get a chance we like to head to Eureka's.
This involves sorting childcare and we always get asked 'Are you going somewhere nice?'
We are running out of 'places to go'. For those who have the same issues, what excuses do you make?

Surely just some time out for you as a couple is as much as anyone needs to know.
I suppose people ask for conversations sake and it leaves you looking like startled rabbits in headlights. No need to feel that way. |

We have exactly the same issue. Second weekend away in West Bromwich... Now, I'm not too sure what there is in West Bromwich other than a hotel, wetherspoons and xtasia....haha

Again, no excuses needed. Just because you're staying in West Brom' doesn't mean you can't be visiting another town. West Brom is a cheap and conveniently located base for a sizeable chunk of the midlands. |

We had the same problem. We found a 'long lost friend in Swindon' that we used to meet up with for a meal. Quite a drive back, so might not be in until the early hours. Eventually we just used to say we were off to Michelle and Dave and no one asked anymore.
Now the kids are old enough (17) to look after themselves so just ask if we are ordering in a Chinese or pizza for them! They think we are off to some cricket do...

After not really going out for years together except maybe once or twice per year , we now try and get out every 3-4weeks so obviously questions are being asked why we are out so much . We just said that we need 'us' time now the kids are a little older and that we are going out for food and a few drinks. We found the less complicated you make your reasons the less they ask . If you say " we are going here and doing this and going there " they ask more questions about it and what you did etc ...we realised to just keep it simple . Xx |

Yes but to do what?? I don't lie, so I'm not going to tell them I've done this that and the other. I just miss out that I went to a swingers club... |

Thanks for all your posts x
Our issue is Eureka's is 1.5 hour drive each way, without traffic.
I'm liking the idea of saying we're having 'us' time, because it's not lying but it's the follow on questions which do get awkward, 'where did you go?' 'what did you do?'
