How would you pull in a pub? Eye up the candy, cheeky little smile and maybe a wink. See if it’s reciprocated, then that gives an open door to chat. Or do you write a message on a piece of paper walk up to someone without eyeing them up and hand it to them?
Personally there’s no harm in winks, they’re not lazy, it’s an indicator as to whether the other person maybe interested. M&L |

"I don't bother looking. I do on rare occasions send a wink tho as I'm aware others do take notice of them "
If you don’t bother. Then why occasionally send one? |

I personally think men do take notice of them, so I may wink someone I like the look of. |

That’s what they are doing with you? Perhaps you may find someone you like in amongst them. Ms Myth and I started our relationship with a wink. We now live together. |

I'll go peep at them.
I may keep a tally of who is compatible and see what the results are (profile wise not looks wise) |

"Maybe there should a way of blocking them, for those that can't see they're just a "gentle hi" that is!
Prefer a ‘gentle hi’ in a message thank you very much...."
Guess that's me told then! |

Ok so I checked the first 50.
I'm using the words "match what I'm looking for" very loosely.
Basically I checked if they'd meet smokers or not.
12 out of 50 would not.
2 had hidden profiles.
Out of the other 36:
6 were local (within 20 miles)
3 were chancers visiting the area.
6 had what I would consider an actual profile. More than 5 lines of text.
2 I would consider meeting if they were closer
1 I would consider meeting who is quite close. |

I get a wink I proceed to read their profile and if I like what I have read then I message.
People who cant stand winks might as well not look at messages (sterner stuff) in my opening as it shows a lack of intrigue. |

About the same with messages then!
Same odds. |

Yeah, I'm a bit gutted. I was hoping for great things!
I winked one guy and he messaged within about 30 seconds thanking me for the wink, my thought process was right |

We’ve just been winked at by a 19 year old in California. Apart from the 28 year age gap, the 5200 miles distance between us and the fact that he obviously couldn’t be arsed to read our profile we’ve got a good feeling about this. |

"We tell them on our profile winks are ignored..we get at least 10 a day....we just delete them..obviously not read our profile"
Not surprised you’ve hidden your profile. |

Why..we are having a break from messages because of work commitments so can not reply straight away..If we got a load of winks we would just delete them anyway..so what point are you trying to make by saying not surprised you have hidden your profile |

"What do you all think?
I’ve had 10 winks this evening and I ust delete them. Really can’t see the purpose of them!
"
I agree, it's not as if we have to pay to exchange real messages so why not just do that?

I'f they're "just a gentle hi" why not just message them and say hi? I'll generally respond to a message but ignore a wink. |

Totally agree. I wink if there is a profile I like and think I may match what they are looking for. Its just a way of expressing your interest. |

"waste of time for men sending them to couples and single women as there are far too many.. but if we get one off of a couple of single woman we will always take a look" |

We never know how many we get as we just bulk delete them. It does say this in our profile though so we are not missing out on anything as anyone who sends a wink won't have read it so no loss as far as we are concerned. |

I agree. If we get a wink and we like them back, we wink back. Then take it from there. We also send winks 1st. *mrs |

We see it as a bit of a 'check out my/our profile' which is great. Until their profile turns out to be a one-liner with the only pics pics being dick pics |

Because with a hi you feel forced to talk. Winks are ideal to express an interest. *mrs |
