Battlestar Galactica is one of my favourite shows of all time, second only to The Wire.

Bolton

Altered carbon, san clarita diet, izombie, unbreakable kimmy Schmidt, orange is the new black, black mirror, dirk gentlys holistic detective agency, stranger things, cloverfield...

If its a Netflix original, its usually worth watching.

There and to the left a bit

Outlander - tale of two people split by two centuries who fall in love - set mainly in Scotland around the time of the Jacobite rebellion - very clever storyline, amazing sex scenes.

Vikings - follows the lives and raids of a group of Vikings

Away from Amazon/Netflix:

11.22.63 - Time travel thing based on a Stephen King book about a man who goes back in time to try and prevent the JFK assassination

Line Of Duty - probably the best British crime procedural ever

The Bridge - Swedish/Danish crime thriller

Another vote for vikings here, its excellent, and I think Line of Duty is on Netflix unless they've removed it.

most fundamental aspects

For black and dark comedy, I would recommend Lilyhammer. It was one of Netflix first originals.

An originally Spanish language (dubbed) offering with really good twists and turns is Money Heist.

If you have a spare 18 hours and like hard hitting and objective documentaries, then Vietnam War is well worth the watch.

Power!!!

Also recently enjoyed mini series Seven Seconds (well worth a watch) and currently on season 4 of The Killing which I'm quite enjoying...

Then there's the classics like Breaking Bad (quite simply a must-see in my humble opinion ), Orange is the New Black, Sons of Anarchy, Making a Murderer, Dexter... I spend way too much of my time on Netflix

Yeah I hadn’t long started secondary school when it 1st came out remember watching it late at night on channel 4.

Loads of famous actors in it. The narrator in the wheel chair went on to be in loads of stuff after OZ.

Agreed. The Wire is a masterpiece and Galactica isn't far behind it.

For me, lately, it's been Westworld. I liked Altered Carbon as well. Both seasons of Goliath are good. Season 1 of True Detective - well worth watching.
