He paid €82M weeks before the WC started. Or at least that's what I read. Who knows.

Either way it's a money move

I'd wager that he's thinking next World Cup. Italy is renowned for being a slower paced league, less stress in the body. The Italian lifestyle will extend his career to 2022.

I rather suspect he doesn't exactly need the money. The tax bill payoff will seem like a piss in the swimming pool of money he's already accrued through his various sponsorships and contracts.

Think of the some of the best 40 year old players....

Totti

Buffon

Pirlo

Del Piero

Maldini

To name a few.

Gotta be something going for that Italian lifestyle.

I still haven't seen two reports quoting the same price on Ronaldo.

Neymar went for €222M. That's over twice the price for Ronaldo €99M (BBC reports).

Twice the price, half the player

Ive just been reading his wage breakdown works out at £512k PER WEEK.

Everytime he goes to sleep for 8 hours he wakes up £24k richer.

It's mind boggling. PSG paid a similar figure in wages to Neymar as his transfer fee.

Where the fuck does the money come from? Don't ask

Spot on.

Historically the Italian game has been played at a slower tempo and is a lot less physical than say the English game.

Much as I dislike his histrionics, he's the consumate professional and will do everything he can to extend his league and international career.
