I'd wager that he's thinking next World Cup. Italy is renowned for being a slower paced league, less stress in the body. The Italian lifestyle will extend his career to 2022.
I rather suspect he doesn't exactly need the money. The tax bill payoff will seem like a piss in the swimming pool of money he's already accrued through his various sponsorships and contracts. |

Spot on.
Historically the Italian game has been played at a slower tempo and is a lot less physical than say the English game.
Much as I dislike his histrionics, he's the consumate professional and will do everything he can to extend his league and international career. |
