So all boys and coach are out safe and well. Just a couple need treatment for infectio.

Bloody miracle. Tragic that one of the divers died

It is miraculous. It's great to see when people unite to try and find solutions.

I just hope that the help for the children, and their coach, doesn't end at World Cup tickets.

Elin Musk was sending his best engineers out to see if they could help. Don't know if they did get there in time or not, but what a great gesture.

If only more billionaires were like that

He had them build a mini sub to house one kid at a time and had it delivered to the site. The dive boss said it was unsuitable so musk just left it there and left. So I read anyway. At least he tried tho.

Yeah he was a very experienced navy seal too, just shows how dangerous it was if the best in the world got caught out. They’ve done amazingly well to get them all out alive. God bless that diver for his sacrifice.

What I found sad was I had to trawl through what Meghan was wearing, how she was sitting, Princess Charlotte waving to get to the successful rescue of these boys.

Sad that their plight and the truly heroic rescuers, didn't warrant more column inches.

Ahh I’m sure he didn’t do it on purpose, I’m sure he feels bad enough.

Settlewick!

Very sad about the diver who died, but I think his sacrifice actually kick started the rescue, there was talk about leaving them for weeks until the rains subsided and water levels dropped. An expert diver perishing brought home the magnitude of the situation.A true hero RIP xx

He offered a number of solutions and as many of his team as needed. But, as he said, you wouldn't know what would work until you see the situation.

The mini submarine and the inflated walk-through tunnel couldn't work with the elevated section.

The divers found the best solution with the time available and the bravery of the children, who couldn't swim and have never dived, is extraordinary.

That's the press. The England team win knocked the Alesha McPhail murder to the second/third item and middle pages.

"They should have left the coach in there for a couple more day's by himself."

Why? From what I read it was a "rite of passage" ritual and they got trapped by a sudden rainfall. Notice none of the parents blamed him or were waiting with their lawyers.

It's a different world: we can't apply our values to theirs.

Well maybe they will re-address their rite of passage ritual in the future,it's a miracle they all came out alive.

Kinda went off half-cocked if that's the case. Even on the news they were saying that you couldn't wear scuba tanks in parts of the cave, its that tight, so a sub is a non-starter.

The divers would have had longer tank lines to enable them to push or pull the tanks in front or behind them to get through.

Never been cave-diving, but am an experienced caver, have to say its an amazing result getting those boys out.

Story on the BBC today was the boys went up on their own, and the coach went looking for them when they didn't return, no blame there.

No blame,he allowed the boys to wonder off in the first place he should have kept a better eye on them.

All concerned were some steely eyed brave people. The lads included I watched the video of them being found by the British team with some um dust in my eye.

There’s a video of the sub he had built by his rocket engineers on sky news. It’s very slender and small, just big enough for a kid to lay flat inside it. They gave it a good go but under estimated just how tight those tunnels are.

The right place

It’s such a good news story. The only thing that taints it is the death of the Thai navy seal diver. But it does show how dangerous the situation was and how amazing to get all the team out.

If i was one of those parents I'd be giving the "coach" a nose bleed. And asking him why he wanted to take my son 3kms under the ground at the beginning of the monsoon!

I’m right with you on this one .

From the off I wondered why the hell they were all in there , and the excuse that it rained ? It rains all the bloody time there , and monsoon type . This surely can’t be the first time people have been trapped surely ?

So if no thing else let’s hooe this whole episode stops the stupidity of future groups having this crazy right of passage .

I saw an article that said his team were developing a mini submarine to try and get them out. It was unlikely to be ready in time (and wasn't in the end) but they were carrying on with it in case it will help others in the future.
