Scotland - Aberdeen

We have all read about the different ways some people get scammed out of money, and I have always wondered how or why the fell for them.

Now I have just received a personal email (nothing to do with fab) and if you were the type of person they are describing, I can now see how 'some' could panic and perhaps fall for it. Now I don't visit any porn sites, so I have no reason to worry, but I know many of you do, so thought I would mail the message here just for awareness (I hope this is allowed)

--------------------------------------

(my email address), you don't know me and you're thinking why you received this e mail, right?

Well, I actually placed a malware on the porn website and guess what, you visited this web site to have fun (you know what I mean). While you were watching the video, your web browser acted as a RDP (Remote Desktop) and a keylogger which provided me access to your display screen and webcam. Right after that, my software gathered all your contacts from your Messenger, Facebook account, and email account.

What exactly did I do?

I made a split-screen video. First part recorded the video you were viewing (you've got a fine taste haha), and next part recorded your webcam (Yep! It's you doing nasty things!).

What should you do?

Well, I believe, $1200 is a fair price for our little secret. You'll make the payment via Bitcoin to the below address (if you don't know this, search "how to buy bitcoin" in Google).

BTC Address: 1FBQLhK6zNuv7hxEYAQx3JunP2YXLFqwhk

(It is cAsE sensitive, so copy and paste it)

Important:

You have 24 hours in order to make the payment. (I have an unique pixel within this email message, and right now I know that you have read this email). If I don't get the payment, I will send your video to all of your contacts including relatives, coworkers, and so forth. Nonetheless, if I do get paid (after payment, send an email to misszero@protonmail.com), I will erase the video immidiately. If you want evidence, reply with "Yes!" and I will send your video recording to your 5 friends. This is a non-negotiable offer, so don't waste my time and yours by replying to this email.

----------------------------------------

I will report back tomorrow night to let you know how many of my friends and family have been contacted

Sounds serious.

But don't worry, once the Prince of Nigeria has sent me his fortune, I'll happily pay this for you.

Hefty Hideaway

I got the same email into my generic work inbox.

Unfortunately some people may be silly enough to fall for it.

Exactly, we all know about the Nigerian Prince one and others that are obviously bogus, I just thought this one came across as slightly more legit for those that may easily panic

They don't have your details. Just your email address. Probably get it from a random online survey or those stupid "which celebrity is your soul mate" quizzes on Facebook

I hear the odds of winning on the Zimbabwe lottery are good. My mate won once and he didn't even buy a ticket

No idea! How do the many companies get your details when you haven't visited any of their websites?

It wasn't my actual account, it was my Hotmail account who flagged it as spam, why do I get many emails offering Viagra when I am actually female and have no use for it?

Not necessarily a scam but depending on which way you approach The PPI,s saga either cold calling on the phone or junk Mail, perhaps even from the Internet, These people are so concerned for your Welfare If you can put it that way It was only recently why I found out something they never tell people from the start when trying to get them to go through them to enquire, by contacting the people I deal with they told me the truth and I hope anyone else here has or will do the same the companys that try it on by finding out If you have had any PPI,s will a large percentage of what you may have in that PPI as Commision, the other people take nothing, Its no wonder these companys have and perhaps are makeing a big deal of it they are probably milking people for as much as they can on a weekly basis, yes they alerted me to the PPI,s which was good but after that I would,nt trust them or anyone else anyone cold calls me now I just Ignore and always will unless its someone I know personally.

sounds a bit fake, someone hoping to catch people out. as there are plenty of fools who would fall for it.

a pixel in a email wouldnt work, needs to be downloaded, most emails dont download images without asking.

plenty of ways to get peoples info on the web, most people tick the box to subscribe to newsletters/partners, details include name and email, sometimes mobile, then posted on web for everyone to see, hence why untick and use separate emails for junk sites and proper emails.

My cousin had a similar one that wasn't so well written-the grammar was quite bad-and it was specific about what type of porn she was supposed to have been watching.

From any company who asks for your email when you buy something or join up. They get money for selling on your email address.

I had to give my email address to take my grandsons swimming a couple of weeks ago. I asked if I was going to receive loads of junk mail if I gave it and she said no, I won't tick the 4 boxes that gives permissions. I said I haven't been offered any terms and conditions to read anyway (she was taking my details as we spoke). Now, I'm wondering if they usually tick the boxes without letting the customer know.

I bet some do because they'll get commission.

Good idea, some people may panic and not think straight when they read it. If it helps just one person then it's worth it.

I think it would be off if our loc al council did it. I wasn't able to swim without giving my email address.

There was a recent story about a Nigerian man found dead and the authorities found £27 billion in his apartment...............

Apparently he'd been trying to give it away for 15 years but no one would return his emails!
