England committed a "monumental robbery" in beating Colombia in the last 16 at the World Cup, according to Argentina legend Diego Maradona.

Wow. Talk about throwing stones in glass houses

When will this odious little prick stop his anti English bile ? I read this story. Apparently the England team are all cheats and divers, stealing the game from the fair playing Columbian's. He went on to say that he thought FIFA should apologise for appointing such a poor and biased referee. What a joke. I think he must still be using some kind of narcotics. Columbia'n maybe ?

BBC journalists apparently. He was good on the field, but a loser off it. I think he must have been back on the gear to make that statement.

He should be thanking the ref for not giving out red cards. Look what Beckham got a red card for in 1998 compared to last night. That was pre-VAR days!!!

Yeah, the white stuff hasn't really done him any favours unfortunately. If he had admitted his "Hand of God", and moved on, then I might be able to take him a little bit more seriously. I used to work at the Baseball Ground, and some of the things Shilton used to call him beggared belief!

And because he's Brazilian he gets away with it. I would have just chucked a bucket of water over him and told him to get on with it! Some of the refereeing decisions have been questionable to say the least.

Even with VAR, I could tackle Harry Kane and get away with it

The thing is that he was off the pitch at the time, so they should have played on.

Yeah but is Shilton getting paid £10k a week by FIFA, Maradona is a nutter but he was one of the greatest footballers ever. Gazza was one of the greatest footballers to play for England but should we judge him on the night he tried to go and help Raul Moat ?

I hardly think that Gazza rocking up with a fishing rod and a chicken sandwich is football related though. He has his issues for sure, but not of the vitriolic kind.

Might not be football related but is the Falklands ? I see comments saying Maradona is bitter because of that. You say Maradona should admit his hand of god and move on, maybe Shilton should move on as well, yeah Maradona cheated but that’s life. Very honourable but you are in a minority. Do you really think “we are better than that“ ? Did you not see Harry Maguire ? Deli Alli and Ashley Young are probably 2 of the worst players in the premier league for taking a dive.

I can see more extra time & penalties if truth be known. I think at this stage most teams will just try to nullify each other. I hope I'm wrong, and that maybe a bit of tactical or individual genius can make all the difference

I fully agree with that, but I've seen players get booked for falling over their own bootlaces when they weren't even looking for a foul. Consistency is what's needed, and even VAR doesn't seem to have achieved that yet.

I haven't agreed to anything. I'd have to watch the whole match to give my opinion on that.

I remember England did create chances but most of my memories were 'how can they allow this goal to stand'.

Not that it adds anything to this but I'm not English, I'm Welsh. I had no option but to support England as a kid cos Wales didn't really have a team and living in England they never had any coverage. Half my family are English so I have genuine reasons to see them do well.

I also hope England win it, if it's deserving. May the best team win.

Maradona hates us because of the war, nothing really to do with football. It’s a generational thing. I couldn’t care less what he thinks, it’s just funny watching him pissed up making a dick of himself. When he makes statements like that it shows what a hate filled fool he is and no one with much sense takes the slightest bit of notice

You might be right, but Uruguay are a pretty solid unit. England v Uruguay final is how I see it panning out. England winning 2-1 in extra time. Marcus Rashford with the goal.

I can dream can't I!!?

I think Uruguay will nick this one, but won't go further than the semi's...either way, the winner of the Brazil/Belgium game will win the World Cup.

If it was so clear....why did the referee or linesman not pick up on it? Could it perhaps be that it was only with the benefit of numerous replays from various angles that people could see that he had used his hand. For me hos second goal that day cancelled out that incident....sheer beauty and grace and anyone who cant admit that really isnt a football fan.

Of course I'd love to see us there again. I didn't dare dream. I honestly thought I'd never see it in my lifetime.

I can't see me having a bigger buzz watching sport.

I never thought I'd stand at Wembley to watch my team in an fa cup final either (cardiff).

When things like that happen for me it's a case of 'just make a good account of yourselves'. And look what can happen when expectations are kept sensible.

England seem to have followed that path aswell.

There’s no reason we can’t make it there. But facing France,Belgium or Brazil is not a food final haha.

Best match of the cup will be later today but I don’t think Brazil will do well against Belgium, they have too many good players who can switch play styles. They can go from short passing to fast paced counters over the top.

The ref needs a hat or a wig.

That's what I noticed in those handbags

This is ridiculous for professional football. How on earth is that ref not booking more. Uruguay are just being malicious at this point, it’s unnecessarily dangerous

The ref and the other 7 officials. Var etc

Uruguay been at it all game.

I reckon Pogba is going to cop it.

For all my jokes I hope no player gets injured and has to miss future games but I can see it coming.

The first player to charge up to a ref' like a savage, gets a red card instantly.

It'd cut that shit out almost straight away.

Surprised varane hasnt had his ankle snapped yet to he honest. He’s their defense, no Varane would have it’s issues... you can just tell rodriguez the 32 year old was only brought on for his physicality.

"Cant believe the amount of bitter England fans on here bleating about the “Hand of God”.....what about Geoff Hursts “goal” that didnt cross the line in 1966? Have a word with yourselves!

Maradonna? Peerless footballer.....absolute wank hankie of a human being!

What about Hursts goal? It's open to debate still.

The Maradona hand of God goal wasn't. It was blatant cheating, not even debatable.

I don't need to have a word with myself. I'm a fan of England but not an England fan.

I think this England team learnt quite a lot from how we (Wales) played in the Euro's

But good luck to them man, I hope they can at least get to semi's

I've been saying exactly just that. Plus this England team came through the ranks together.

The manager talks sense, the media and fans are currently behind them and the players seem to enjoying themselves.

I'm jealous WE ain't there but the next best thing for ME is an England win.

Yeah jealous as hell bud, there's just nothing like watching your country play at these tournaments. I literally nearly fainted when Robbo scored that goal v Belgium in the quarters lol. Just amazing.

hurst goal was a reff decision which is 50/50, hand of cheat goal was clear as day and the world knows it

It was a great goal which could of been defended so much better.

However it wasn't and rightly so it is one of the best goals ever scored in a WC. Just a pity the biggest prick to ever kick a ball scored it."

I can think of far bigger pricks, who contributed far less to the game, than Diego Maradona. Dennis Wise, Vinnie Jones, Joey Barton, Robbie Savage to name but 4 off the top of my head!

I don't know what it is but I'm going off south American football.

I love Brazil but Neymar is testing me.

Columbia, This lot, Panama were just dirty.

Argentina didn't really get off the plane but it's their fans I love.

I loved what Mexico brought and for me so far (due to neymar) they have flown the flag for that 'part' of the world at this comp

Not a chance. Brazil can’t handle the physicality of the Belgians. Brazil are supposed to be a tough nation, not in the world of football they’re not.

I’m not usually a fan of lukaku but he’s dominating those wings. And look at how much ground KDB covers... the guy can go from huge strides to small yet very quick steps. The way they have switched the game up to allow kev that freedom is awesome, you can see the entire team is there to accomodate KDB and look how comfortable the team is with him as the main man. He is calling all the shots and every Belgian knows they’re going to get the ball right where they want it. Everyone harps on about how good players like neymar are but one CAM can unify an entire squad. The team chemistry is impeccable tonight.
