Hammer and chisel?

Is it a round door knob?

Give it a good firm twist? Then get back to fixing the door knob

I may just have to pull my knob out and replace it with a firmer, better quality knob!

"Hammer and chisel?

Indeed it is round, I have a joiner friend who may fix it for me. Hopefully he can or I may be knobless (if I proceed with the hammer and chisel)

Spray it with lube and keep working it with your hand!

Or furniture Polish with silicone in it, stops squeaky hinges!

loosen the screws a bit that generally cures it

Work it back and forth gently, increasing the speed gradually until it comes off in your hand, works for me

Is it because it’s sooo hot? and so its heat expanded? A cold shower works to unstiffen other knobs obviously but not sure that’d do your hall carpet much good x

Possibly so, it has been a bit rickety for a while but now maybe the heat delivered the final blow. Maybe I will stand there blowing on it for a bit until it cools down first

Although I am open to others perhaps giving it a blow? Consider this an open invitation

Perhaps something in the mechanism broke and is stopping it from turning.

Funny you mention it I had a few blue pills posted through my door, this may be contributing to my stiffness dilemma
