Is it a round door knob? "
Indeed it is round, I have a joiner friend who may fix it for me. Hopefully he can or I may be knobless (if I proceed with the hammer and chisel) |

loosen the screws a bit that generally cures it  |

Is it because it’s sooo hot? and so its heat expanded? A cold shower works to unstiffen other knobs obviously but not sure that’d do your hall carpet much good x |

Possibly so, it has been a bit rickety for a while but now maybe the heat delivered the final blow. Maybe I will stand there blowing on it for a bit until it cools down first  |

round handles generally are difficult to drill and screw on square to bar that operates latch if you loosen screws it may help |
