I'm a lady when I need to to be, a hussy when I need to be, and a vile cunt when I need to be.
I think the day of the stereotypical lady, outside of the royals, is pretty much over.

"How would you define a ‘lady’ OP?
I don't know the stereotypical lady portrayed on screen and in books I doubt fits with modern life.. the social conventions that defined both genders have changed .. when I read the do gentlemen exist the example the lady poster gave was just good manner's rather than being a gentleman."
I think without a definition of what people expect then we’re all discussing different concepts. It’s a nice idea to consider people to act in a classical sense of the terms but in reality it just doesn’t fit with modern life and modern concepts.
Personally I think that I’d rather a person be real and honest in their intentions and considered in themselves. That to me is a person of value, not a 200 year old concept of virtue. |

"Some guys want a lady im streets and whore in the bedroom and a cook in the kitchen. In reality that's probably 3 separate women.
That’s so 1950’s "
I would suggest chivalry and holding open doors for "ladies" is very 1950s. |

Just because a concept is old doesn't necessarily invalidate it in the modern world. I agree that people should behave in a courteous manner simply because it's the right thing to do but i don't think that precludes it from being considered gallant. |

No I agree but when we’re all discussing a different idea without a defined behaviour pattern behind it, the point is rather moot. |

I feel I behave ethically, with respect to others and integrity.
That makes me feel like a "lady".
A male behaving like that, may of course feel like a gentleman I don't know. I guess it all comes down to what you think makes a lady. Or a gentleman.

At times I’m extremely ladylike - ie elegant, polite, well-spoken, well dressed etc! At times I’m ‘one of the lads!’
I reserve the right to be either - and I have the utmost respect for both men and women who, within reason, are happy with themselves and don’t feel compelled to act in a gender conformatory way!
That being said - when women swear loudly and raucously or display very d*unken or ‘publicly sluttish’ (no problem with it in a swingers club) behaviour then I do wince rather! But then I don’t like chaps to behave that way either! |

I would like to consider myself a "lady"... sometimes. For parties and special occasions I will make the effort and I am told I "scrub up well".
I would definitely class myself more as a "sexy tom-boy".
On my first day at Infant school; I was told to go and sit with the girls and play with the dolls. I didn't; I remember heading to play cars with the boys.
I now have a car racing licence and a HGV Class 2 licence. I code websites and play the odd game of Golf. I love all things geek and cider!
I would choose attending a car event/show over "going shopping". On a daily basis you will find me in Jeans and Trainers. This is me.
I definitely do have my "girlie" side. I will make the effort when needed. I will wear heels when needed. Haha. I like Afternoon Tea; but also happy watching the game in a pub.
I've been classed as "one of a kind" and proud of it.
Lady: 10%
Sexy Tom-boy: 90%
I do have my "girlie" side. |
