What has always been the best and most memorable school trips you ever went on as a kid?

For me, it was the trip to the Eden Camp wartime museum back when I was in in primary school. It was fantastic. I can still remember the compilation of wartime songs the teachers had us sing before the day of the trip and on the coach going there, having lunch in one of the dining huts there and going from hut to hut learning everything what Eden Camp had to offer.

Over the years since then, I've always wanted to go back and luckily I did back in 2014. It had been the first time I went in over 20 years and I was so glad to have been there again as it had brought back many great memories while making new ones for me to put on Facebook lol

little house on the praire

The most memorable was when i went for a weeks holiday with the school when i was at primary school. I climbed all the way up to the top of a tree and decided to throw myself out of it like a super hero and spent the rest of the week in the sick bay

2 weeks in a camp in the middle of a Northumberland forest.

I can still remember the smell of the pine.

My most memorable was a week long trip to an outdoor adventure camp in the lake district in 2nd year of secondary school..

On the 2nd day i was coming down a mountain so fast, i tripped on a tree root and skidded the rest of the way on my front.. i lost 50% of the skin off my face, arms, body and legs.. i was literally the talk of the town even before i returned home and a large crowd of people turned up to see what damage had been done on my return home

I can't seem to recall any school trips from secondary school but I do somewhat remember one from when on a school trip to Wales.

I can remember all of us going on a path up a mountainside to see this big stone bridge up in the mountains and then go back down again. It was a very fascinating and fun trip that's for sure.

A house, a very big house in the country

Battlefield tour in secondary school.

History trip took us to Ypres and Somme. Very poignant as I found my grandfather's great uncle who had died fighting.

Camberley

First year of secondary school, a weeks camping and hiking in Snowdonia.

Funny how certain things stay with you, I've vivid memories of the second year, hero captain of the lower school football team, bottling out in tears half way up Snowdon at the prospect of walking a short stretch of narrow exposed path with drop offs either side. He was taken back to the campsite while the rest of us enjoyed the day.

Third year of Junior School, we went Youth Hostelling for 9 days to Ffestiniog, Dolgellau and Llanberis. We swam in ice cold streams had evenings outside running free and playing games. The teachers used to go to the pub for a quick drink and leave us .

Sadly ,those days seem lost forever.

Hiding in the shadows

At junior school, we had a yearly trip to Litton Mills.

Nature walks along the river, the history of the mill.

I never got bored of hearing about it.

I loved that place

The summer I left Juniors, we had a holiday to Belgium.

About 50 kids all stood watching a TV through a shop window as Charles & Diana got married.

We had a day trip to Amsterdam... I somehow wandered off into the red light district & got lost, a very lovely 'lady' found me & helped me get back to my group... The Heads face when she saw me walking holding the lady's hand... Oh priceless!

Went on some good trips with school,Scotland,Wales. But nothing beat the class outing at junior school when we met the clangers. Brilliant it was,to this day I can still speak fluently in the clanger language. Even the dog understands me when I use it.

On a week's school trip to Paris. The heavy seas that had everyone vomitting from the decks and the discovery that i actually had quite good sealegs for a land lubber. Followed by a stop at a restaurant where i hastily prepared to impress with my freshly acquired French only to have the waiter stroll over and ask, 'Alreyt, what's tha want?'. Turns out he was from Doncaster. Class.

Bedworth

Last year of primary school we went on a residential trip to London, travelled by train and had 3 nights staying at the scout head quarters Baden Powell house. While there we visited all the free museums and spent time in the parks too, it’s was awesome!

That’s the only residential trip I ever went on. Being a twin meant that our parents couldn’t afford it. They wouldn’t have dreamt of sending just one of us and couldn’t afford for us both to go.

At primary school, trip to London. We must have walked miles. Back in the day when you could get within about 10metres of no 10 downing st.

Also went to some big park in Heysham that had its own circus. Me and my mate were just nosying about and saw where the acts were getting ready. We saw a clown at his dressing table 3/4 made up. He turned his head slowly towards us and stared, unsmiling. Talk about shitting yourself. Thats my reason for not liking clowns! Never quite got over it.
