Would you save much by turning the pilot light off in the warm weather? I've looked under the fire in front room and it's a large flame.

I wash up by using hot water from a kettle

My gas costs me pence to run in the summer and i use my hot water all the while. Cant imagine you would save money by turning the pilot light out

Must be an old set up..most are now electronic spark fire up ..I can not see it saving you that much by putting it out

Paper cups and plates is the way to go then you won't even need to run that expensive bath, maybe once a month for the sake of good personal hygiene.
