FB security settings
Jump to: Newest in thread
It seems that FB have altered the security settings on ALL accounts without informing us, just wondering if I am allowed to post how to secure your account so that you can stop people hacking into it while you are on it? |

They have made EVERYONE@S account non-secure.... you have to alter your security settings....
Facebook has changed and said nothing (again). Take a look at your URL (top box on your screen.) If you see "http" or just "www", instead of "https", you DO NOT have a secure session & can be hacked. Go to Account Settings - Click Security on the left top corner - click Edit next to Secure Browsing, Check box, click Save. FB has automatically set it on the non-secure setting! Do everyone a huge favor, copy & re-post.
Send to all on your friends list.

Confused. Because this site doesn't say https either. Can I be hacked on here? Should I be worried? Or is this another Facebook will be the end of civilisation as we know stories? |

I think you'll find that's only with a certain browser and FB haven't said which browser it is. They have installed software to detect those browsers and a security patch to fix the problem. This all stemmed from a hacker who posted thousands of pron images on the accounts of people using the unspecified browser.
I've just checked mine and I'm using IE, and it has https in the URL. |

Top right hand corner of your facebook page, you will see your name, next to it is "HOME", and to the right of this is an arrow pointing down, click on that. |

Accounts have NOT been made any less secure than they were before. Scaremongering is rife as per usual everytime Facebook change their security or any other settings
Facebook has actually given you the option of advancing your security settings without adjusting your previous settiings.
Extra security to be opted in to.... NOT your previous preferred security settings automatically opted out of!
I'm happy |

"Well if this scaremongering has got everyone looking at and tightening up their FB secrity, it wasn't a wasted effort was it? "
It would have been a much better thing if FB themselves had said that security settings had been beefed up a fair bit.
Well... all I can say is that I'm impressed with the new settings and would have adjusted the security earlier had I known sooner... thank f*** for scaremongering |

I've seen that message but aside from the fact I don't understand it, how do we know its true? Facebook is notorious for rumours so I am not really sure I believe it |

Now see, thats how much of a techy dinasaur I am. Whats Google Chrome?
_rummps x"
Its an alternative search engine to Google, Opera, Firefox etc. I use it to access Fab as Google itself wouldn't let me access the shop or chat but I have to have both as a shopping website I use, doesn't work with Chrome |

Yes i heard they can look into out messages etc when your offline so what i have been told to use c cleaner and eveytime we log off we clean pc and that stops anyone going into your account |

With over 800 million users, why would they want to read your messages?
While I believe a little paranoia about online information is healthy, using a cc cleaner every time you finish on a computer is taking it a little far. Unless you are sending messages about how you are going to eliminate the president, or blow up parliament, I really can't imagine what interest anyone would have in your messages. |
