Banter to bullying?

How far would you consider banta turning into bullying? Using the Internet somethings can be misleading. Too me I've noticed on a few treads some bullying, but to others it's been banta. Where is the line?

There is a very thin line between the two.. not everyone will be in the same mood and some people are sitting on the edge of their seats waiting to be offended

On a bullying note, fab has a zero tolerance policy towards banter

Banter in person and the body language tells you when one person's joke becomes another person's offence.

Banter on the internet and there is no body language, just a string of words.

Safer to mock yourself than try to mock others. It never ends well.

There and to the left a bit

As Banana Man said there's a very thin line between the two on-line, and all too often "it's only banter" is rolled out as a line to excuse bad or disrespectful behaviour

I guess you need to know your audience. If you don't then be prepared for your "jokes" to be taken as digs.

.

Even you have met or talk regularly in the forums you can't read someones facial or body expressions by words, Its a lot easier to have banter in the chat rooms if you're both on cam

It can be a tricky one. We enjoy banter and can take it well, but then we are easy going and not easily offended.

Not everyone understands our humour and sarcasm though, which can get us in bother on occasion and sent to the naughty step.

I think generally people expect everyone to agree with THEIR point of view and if you say something different it's called trolling or bullying. Sometimes the forums aren't much fun.

It's pretty easy to spot. Especially when a group gang up on an individual.

I've been the lucky recipient of this type of behaviour on the Irish forum. It's not nice to say the least.
