Times have changed in many cases and things that were once acceptable are no longer considered so, in particular terms that could be seen as racist or offensive. In some cases there is an attempt to reclaim and redefine them.
Was reading the other day that Laura Ingalls Wilder's name has been removed from a literay award as people find some of her writings to be racist.
Now whether or not this is the case are we trying to judge the past by today's morals? Are we trying to say these things did not happen in the past and show how we have improved and learnt from them? |
