So i finally get through to the receptionist, as soon as i tell her the nature of my problem she says i should go straight to hospital.
Fortunately we are blessed with a tiny village hospital with a minor injuries unit. I rock up at 8.15 and i'm seen almost straight away. Some stuff put in my eye that makes it sting followed by more stuff that dyes the eye orange and a close and thorough inspection by not one but two nurses.
No sign of any foreign bodies (i washed it out under the shower last night) but there are signs of scratches and pitting on the cornea and scarring left over from a touch of iritis i had about 10 years ago.
A tube of antibiotic cream as a prophylactic and i was out again by 9.15 and off to work. I know the NHS has it's detractors but i thought the whole experience was excellent. Well done them. |
