WARNING TO ANYONE TRAVELLING ON TRAINS TO WORK.
The heatwave expected to sweep across the UK could throw the nation’s railways into disarray, with operators warning that tracks could “buckle” in the soaring temperatures. Network Rail has already introduced temporary speed restrictions on some routes in what it said was “a bid to keep trains running, albeit more slowly than normal”.

Well when I went to Cardiff on the train just two Saturdays ago the trolley came around and I bought a bottle of summer fruits oasis and a kitkat. Arrival trains Wales. |

At least passengers can drink alcohol staff cant until off duty.

So your advice to people, maybe even the elderly who might be catching a train, is don't be prepared - if you start feeling thirsty just wait and pay over the top pricing for a drink or even visit a skanky toilet and put mouth against a tap that has been used by god knows how many people who haven't washed hands. I don't think it's stupid advice to carry water of there is risk of delay to your journey. Trolley services (if they exist) are not infinite supplies and neither is the tap water on a train. Depending on how busy the train is it could run out quite quickly.
We in the UK are simply not geared up for very hot or very cold weather, rain we seem to be OK at lol |

I'm elderly, retired, from a generation that used common sense. So when I had to take a train on Monday I put on cotton clothes and carried a litre of water with me.

We are becoming unthinking zombies, incapable of independant thought and decision making. Nobody needs to be told most of the advice we are given. I often wonder how our old people got to the age they did. |

I was going to, but there was no buffet service and I didnt want to overheat and collapse due to lack of water. I worked that out all by myself. I didnt need the NHS, the rail franchise or Andy Burnham etc to tell me. |

"I don't think it's stupid advice to carry water of there is risk of delay to your journey. Trolley services (if they exist) are not infinite supplies and neither is the tap water on a train. Depending on how busy the train is it could run out quite quickly.
We in the UK are simply not geared up for very hot or very cold weather, rain we seem to be OK at lol

You seem to be very aggressive.. Perhaps you are dehydrated.... Drink some water.
If you have the commons sense to be able, to mnhw your fluid intake, then I'd wager the advice was not aimed at you.
Like seaside said, we're not talkimg about workplaces where access to water (or tea) is plentiful. We're talking about situations where that access could be limited in emergency situations.
A litre of water isn't really that much to carry. |
