Should we accept that alot of them are going to have different views based on their generation or should we expect them to move with the times. Are you more acceptant if a view comes from an older person.

My dad is 80 and very set in his ways.. he grew up in a very un pc world where they said what they wanted and got away with it whether it was right or wrong.. some of the stuff he posts on fb makes me go but he thinks nothing of it, the old rogue |

I think it's a case of can't teach an old dog new tricks.
Most behaviours and beliefs are learned including prejudices so they are hard to change. It would be like telling an arachnophobe not to be scared of spiders, they might hide it for a while but the feeling will still be there.
Also things move so fast, I'm relatively young but there are phrases that were acceptable in my youth that aren't now. I can't imagine how confusing it'll be by the time I'm 70! |

Given that there are plenty of people of that age who don’t hold objectionable views - either because they never held them, or because they realised they were wrong and changed - I find it hard to accept. |

I don't believe in the old dog new tricks thing. Humans are far faster to adapt than any modern cultural change or new trend. I accept that they see the change from a mile away but don't see why they should adapt. |
