Its not to message someone, imagine it as a post it you have left on their profile, so you can remember any thoughts you had about them etc etc. They will never see the private note, only you.
Or at least thats what I'm guessing, I dont have this option, lol |

Its basically your own thoughts or a little reminder about someone. Only you will see it. Completely different from a message which is sent to them. You know private notes, as in only you seeing it.

Only you can see the private notes. You can leave a comment about them whether you will meet them again or not and why not, and their phone number. If you arrange a party, its also a great way of remembering who is coming to a party and who can't make it  |

I thought the difference was obvious, you send a mail as a message, you keep a not for yourself.....
Perhaps keep notes to keep track of what messages have been sent and when so you dont say the same thing twice? Or record which club you mightmeet the person in? |

Its quite new, I only just noticed (so if I have sent people similar mails every fortnight or si before hand, im sorry. theyre not cut n paste jobers, im just not very imaginative......) |

I am loving the private notes option, I use it to tell me what I said to people that I have for want of better words turned down, with the date of when, much better than trying to remember |

A message is what you send to people, private notes are a way of keeping a record ie note of what people are like, whether you would meet them again, what their phone number is, in fact anything that reminds you of them and the notes can only be viewed by you |
