Don't get why Morrissey and Marr would allow this to be used in a John Lewis ad. What happened to 'shoplifters of the world unite'?

I rarely watch TV so first time I've heard/seen it. Haunting version of a beautiful song. But should it be on an advert, not sure but at least it's for a company with some ethics.
