I am wondering if anyone else suffers from nerves like I do.

Next hues day I have to pitch to a CEO and cto of a billion pound company. Am I nervous hell yes. Can I use PowerPoint no.

For me my nerves get the better of me, I end up getting all confulded. This happens tome in large groups as well, and why I sometimes struggle to talk to people.

I don't want to take any natural calms but wAnted to know if people experianced same issues

Get the shakes big time when doing presentations to groups. Beta blockers work well.

Be truthful and tell them all that you are nervous when you speak to them.

Everyone gets nervous over different situations, its human nature.

"Get the shakes big time when doing presentations to groups. Beta blockers work well."

Nerves are terrible. I used to perform in front of several hundred people at small venues as a soloist and thirty minutes before was the most gutwrenching time imaginable (and no green room). I found the first 30 seconds of a performance the worst inside, but then it would melt away and I'd be flying

Trick with small audiences is not to focus on any one face for too long try and move your focus around on objects at eye level, never look down and don't forget to smile. If you can bring your audience in and involve them in what you're doing, you've cracked it

Bigger audiences are easier, you can't see tha faces in the auditorium, just black silhouettes of people, and very bright lights in your face

Good luck

Always had similar problems with presentations - try a herbal remedy called 'Rescue Remedy' - available widely at chemists and has a nice cherry bite to it! Honestly, really worked - well, for me anyway!!

im a s easoned public speaker and i always get nervous but trust me the only way to deall with the nerves when you get up to pitch is to look at everyone straight in the eye ...whatever you do dont lose eye contact ..its so important because you get so much back from someone if you are looking at them ..its a kind of empathy bcause ususally those people are thinking " oh my god i couldnt be doing what hes doing right now " and they want you to be doing it well !! whatever you might think ..

Nerves are apauling, I have every sympathy with you....

Try to remember that you have a good product and that you have been inviited to pitch. I am not sure telling your clients that you are nervous is such a good idea, you are sposed to be a profesional after all.....

I am good at my job as I am very confident, but I dont have to sell anything, which I find very dificult to do.

Good luck and let us know how you did....

i get nervous yeah, but i usually find the thinking about things is often much worse than the delivery / execution

and your right less time thinking and getting on with it . You have to belive in yourself .. and be true to yourself .. and be positive from that things work . And when them nasty things come into your head say to yourself i will not let it take me over .. i am in control of what i think .

I believe in practice makes perfect, and prefer to write my own presentations than to use materials written by someone else.

For an important presentation, I would practice first, to make sure I know the contents well, and to practice my timings and delivery.

As for calming myself, I find deep breathing helps.

Good luck!

I used to get nervous when delivering training but I've got used to it now and it doesn't bother me as it did. I am a talker so would rather train that way rather than death by powerpoint. There's nothing worse than seeing people desperately trying to keep awake whilst staring at text projected on a wall. I like the spontaneity of it too, you never know what's gonna be said. Retaining interest is key.

I'd make a bad salesperson, its not me trying to persuade someone to buy something. So I can understand how hard that is, rather than training on policy and procedures.

But try and keep a positive mind. If you believe in what you are trying to achieve and remain assertive, then those nerves won't show. The first few minutes are always the worst. I'm sure you'll be fine

Angus & Findhorn

know your subject and have a few run thro's.

wear something you are very comfortable in.

engage all you are presenting to.

stay on subject.

possibly send in advance, works for some... maybe speak to their PA's and ask best way to engage.

good luck

Preparation. Make sure you know the presentation inside out and backwards. Run it past a few others and get them to ask as many awkward questions as they can.

Keep some notes with all your facts and figures on so you can be sure you are accurate.

Take it slow and steady, don't try to rush yourself and try to keep questions to the end so you don't get sidetracked.
