"Aldi has revealed an improved Back to School uniform package for just £5.
The package consists of two polo shirts, one round neck jumper and either a pair of trousers or a skirt for just £5.
Aldi says it covers all primary school ages from 3 to 11 years old."
Good idea for skint parents or bad idea for the sweat shops making the clothes?

My child is in secondary school.. his trousers alone cost £21... they should do a pack for older kids |

I’ve put three boys thru high school and my daughter has just left primary and going into high school. I found that you can scrimp on some items but others such as pants, blazers etc are worth spending more on, they’ll last the whole year. Well unless they grow a foot s year like my boys did. |

I think it's tougher to ask them to wear none brands as they get older as street cred comes into it.
My lads school is a con as you can only buy from certain places who do the "badge"
I'm meeting the head again to say look I can buy better cloths cheaper and get the badge embroidered on much cheaper.
Pretty sure the school get a kick back ! |

Personally I go by the you buy cheap you buy twice motto. I buy my son decent trousers, the blazer comes from school. I'll buy cheap shirts because I tend to replace them after a few months anyway so they stay crisp white. But I don't see how something costing £5 will have enough staying power for children at school, especially boys the knees will be gone on day one |

My boys always had M and S school trousers and school blazers, shirts I used to buy with the shopping at Sainsburys every couple of weeks as they would often have ink stains on them.
Its the cost of decent school shoes that used to hit me. My eldest could wreck a pair in two months scuffing round the playground playing football. They both had Clarkes up to senior school age and then Dr Marten or the youngest who was quite so hard on his shoes had Kickers. |

My son went from a size 6 at the start of the last new term to a size 8 at easter so i took him to clarks, but because he has wide feet i had no choice but to buy him adult shoes.. luckily they had a sale on but they were still £49 and that was half price...
Im just praying he doesnt go up another size before the end of term! |

Thats a pain when they do that... especially with boys as it usually means new school shoes, new trainers, new trainers for kicking around in and my lad played football so new Astroturf boots and normal studded boots! |

My boys would only wear plain black Nike Huraches or similar, £100+ a go. Not one of them would wear a normal pair of school shoes. My daughter isn’t fussy bless her. |

Seriously! And you let him get away with it?
Sorry, but more fool you and I think it sets a bad example.
My daughters school had specified skirts, jumpers and blazer. I was single parent / low income most of the time she was in school. I was very fortunate to have my parents help to buy things, as I would have struggled otherwise.
I think the Aldi school pack sounds like an excellent idea.

If the quality isn't piss poor and they fall apart after a month, it's good news for poorer parents.
I miss BHS, because they did all types of fittings for boys school trousers. |

I'll buy two badged cardigans for September and that's it, after that it's the plain cardigans from Asda. My Daughter is 8 and even though I iron on her name, the amount of cardigans she loses in school or will bring a cardigan home that's not hers which I wash and give back to her and the other kid doesn't bring her cardigan back.
If the quality was there I'd buy the £5 pack.
As it stands she can wear white polo shirts which are £2.50 for two, I'm buying them every 2-3 weeks cos she gets ink on them or grass stains god knows how. |

My youngest grandson is the same. Every week my daughter had to buy him two new shirts. Every month, new trousers. He's now wearing a tracksuit. |
