For all the ones that do both jobs on these special days
This special Fathers Day wish
That comes with love to you
Brings warm and heartfelt thanks
For all the thoughtful things you do
It also comes to let you know
You mean more to me each day
To everyone your lives have touched
In such a loving way.
happy fathers day |

"That’s what Mothers Day is for.... let us Dads have today please ! "
I think it's more about Mothers who also take on the dad role, as they bring the child up singlehandedly. There was a thread to celebrate single dad's with full custody too on Mother's day . |

"On Mother's Day there was a thread about Dads who are single parents raising their children alone.
I see so this is tit for tat? some sort of revenge..
I think it's quite mean spirited.."
I’m not saying it’s tit for tat they are your words.
I’m just pointing out that the same thing happened on Morhers Day. You’ve come out in full attack mode ..... not unusual on here of course. |

I disagree with you at the end of it all its meant for the kids to offer a gift to the parent on that day

There is was no mean spirit intended and there is a similar thread for men on Mother’s Day. As there was last year on both days. They are to show recognition and respect for single parents who have to be both parents. Parenting is the most difficult job on earth and hard enough with 2 ppl, doing it alone must be extremely stressful. I don’t know you or your situation but surely you can empathise with that and see the thread was a kind gesture? |

My Mother is the most important person in my life and I try and appreciate her each day in one way or another..
However, today makes me realise how important my Dad was and will be thinking of him on this special day....Fathers day. |

My son informed me this morning it was head of the house day before going out to buy me a bar of chocolate... i just wanted to spare a thought for other mums in a similar situation .. no malice intended |

In your opinion. Others will disagree. There are single Mother's who have to take on both roles, to raise a well adjusted child. There are also single dads who have to take on both roles for the same reason. It's not a gender issue, but a role issue. It's not harming you personally, so why does it matter? Just let people celebrate the day, in the way they see fit. If someone singlehandedly raises a child, i believe they do deserve to be appreciated for two days out of 365. They don't have the luxury of someone sharing in the upbringing of their child, after all. You are welcome to disagree with that, but that doesn't make your statement correct. It's just your opinion, like mine is my opinion. |

"Maybe we should scrap mother's/fathers day and just have parents day? "
I’m all for that.
That and allocated birthdays so that they don’t all bunch up or I forgot one. I have 12 members of my family so rather convinent but ny suggestion would be that on the 1st of each month it’s someones birthday- financially easier and I’m going to remember that. |

And which parent would the child spend parents day with?
Its not always possible for both parents to spend time together with there child |

"A thread for all the mums who are both mum and dad to their kids 24/7, 365 days of the year, for whatever reason "
What about all the dads who are both mum and dad, for whatever reason. There are two of us in my street. It’s Father’s Day for one day a year, let us enjoy it. |

Mothers/fathers single mothers, single fathers, doesn't matter it's the children that matter and all we can do as parents is our best.
Have a good day everyone, that goes to mums and dads. X |

After thinking about this, I've changed my stance. There is happy fathers day threads to dad's and a happy fathers day thread to mother's who fill the role.
I'm ok with that. Officially it's still fathers day, it hasn't changed anything I'm doing with my kids today.
Happy fathers day to everyone |
