Sad news, Leslie Grantham, best known for playing ‘Dirty’ Den Watts on Easternders has died.

Probably not the time or place but also famous for being outed as a sex webcammer.

RIP Leslie

On fab forums we are taught that after the time has been served people deserve a second chance.

He attempted to rob a german taxi driver but it ended up with him shooting the guy - prosecuted for Murder - but as he was in the forces, he served his time in UK prisons and was dishonourably discharged.

It’s sad for anyone who loved him. It is not sad news.

That’s very odd, why would he rob a taxi driver?

And when it's happened to someone you know let me know how you feel about 'they have done their time and are all nice now'.

Bitter and twisted, maybe, forgive for offences like that, never.

I looked after his mother many years ago, in the 6 years before she died he never visited. She was so proud of her son “the actor”

It’s a great shame he didn’t visit her.

I heard he was d*unk at the time. Tbh BAOR personnel often behaved abominably in West Germany during the cold war era. Hence so many pubs and clubs being out-of-bounds to British forces at the time.

He was also in the TV series Cluedo. Couldn't see the point really - surely the answer was always Leslie Grantham in the back of a taxi with a revolver!

What happened with the murder? Did he knowingly shoot the driver in the head in cold blood, or things got out of hand and the gun went off or what?

Was also really disheartened when he apparently had kid porn on his computer That's what finished his career AFAIR...

Hardly a legend, he only did about 5 years as dirty den. Compared to the likes of bill roache who has been in Corrie since it started, he’s what you’d call a soap legend.

. You make a good point what I would say is the 5 or so years he was in Eastenders he was involved in some of there most memorable storylines and highest viewing figures ask Eastenders fans to name their top 3 favourite characters and he would make most fans top 3.

Having read back through some ot the posts and googled a few things. He does not deserve to RIP.Iconic role in Eastenders yes one of Eastenders most memorable characters yes good man out side of Eastenders no as I think there may be more bad press to come for his familyWould also like to apologise to _amiss on this forum if I have caused them any upset as it seems we have taken over this thread.

"RIP Leslie will always be known and remembed as Dirty Den 30 million of us saw him give Angie divorce papers on Christmas Day 1986 I believe , getting Michelle pregnant when she was 15 or 16 and coming back from the dead.Yes he took a life and only he knows how that affected him he did his prison sentence and turned his life around by getting into acting he may not have been a nice man in real life but a soap legend.

Then I’d say Dirty Den was an iconic character rather than Leslie Grantham being a soap legend. . Again good point I now accept that the term I used as soap legend may not have been the right words and apologise to any one that may have been upset or offended by it and Dirty Den was a iconic character played by Leslie Grantham is a better way to word it.I accept he was a murderer and may not have been a nice man as I have stated in earlier posts he portrayed the character well as the viewing figures were high.I still say RIP Leslie after all he was someone husband and father.

As was the man he chose to kill..... True and he also served his prison sentence and turned his life around.

Would you be so understanding and accepting if he shot one of your relatives?. Off course I would not be happy no one would. It amazing what started as a RIP thread has got as far as this.

My friend, you don't have to apologise but thank you. We all have different opinions and that's good. Some of us may be affected by killers, so can be a very emotive subject.
