For me someone can only hurt me if I know them really well. In that case they'll know my vulnerabilities and a bad person will use them to hurt.

Acquaintances, on line people etc can't hurt me because I have little or no regard to their opinion of me.

I rarely take offence. Life is way too short for that.

Some one asked a friend I was out with if she was pregnant.

A) she can't have children

B) very self conscious about her body

I know it hurt her but, to be fair, she looked him in the eye and said "no, I'm just fat". It's always interesting watching someone die a little inside when they realise how stupid and insensitive they've been!
