I messaged someone for 3 weeks and a day
They stopped replying when I asked “can we play”
I’ve had messages deleted and I’ve been blocked
Someone cancelled a meet when their door never locked
I’ve been waiting in Starbucks in the window seat
Ten minutes later a text cancels the meet.
I’ve had promises ‘one day’ and ‘soon’ did I mention
I keep track of their updates and verification.
I know they have met others, so why not meet me
Why can’t they tell me the next time they’re free
I’ve met people in pubs for a quick chat and drink
Messaged them later asking “what did you think?”
They read it and leave it and then never reply
Or start fobbing me off with some sort lie
Another one cancelled and said they were ill
Oh look status update “that session was brill”
Give me some comfort and say it’s their loss
Let me pretend that I don’t give a toss
Tell me I can do better and I’ll have a queue
I can’t face the obvious…. “they’re just not into you”

I don't know why it happens, but people on here still manage to shock me. Perhaps deep down I like to think that we are all nice people, only to be dismayed when I am (often) proved wrong.
