googles answer is:
.
Eggs came after chickens... and that's a fact
But now they believe they have cracked the conundrum of what came first.
British researchers say the chicken must have come first as the formation of eggs is only possible thanks to a protein found in the chicken’s ovaries.
‘It had long been suspected that the egg came first but now we have the scientific proof that shows that in fact the chicken came first,’ said Dr Colin Freeman, from Sheffield University, who worked with counterparts at Warwick University.
its a question i wanted the answer to now i know lol

Egg for me. Logically, there would have been a chicken type animal that already layed eggs (as has been done for millions of years) and through evolution one of its chicks would have been a modern looking chicken.
Surely.
Or am i simples? |

Bit of a non-question through the years! What would have made an egg that bore a chicken? Yep! A chicken... The egg has developed as a means of giving birth without the handicap of pregnancy making the animal vulnerable to predators. All life has eggs in some form, just that some are designed to hatch outside the body
So, the chicken came first and evolved to give birth by eggs! Simple and logical really!
(Well, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!) |

Never thought of it that way.
Although chickens evolved from dinosaurs that already had the capability to lay eggs?

Actually! Each stage of “Chicken development” would have been new.. So for any given chicken, the egg must have come first!
So, reptile gradually changed into chicken 1. So, at some point there was a reptile and the next thing would be classed a chicken! In that case, the egg came first! Oh ffs! My brain ‘urts..
That is the second time I have been wrong! The first time was when I thought I was wrong but I wasn’t!
