cross your arms, placing your hands on your shoulders, then get some one to lift you from behind, wrapping their arms round your chest for a good tight grip, then jolt you, that will stretch the spine out, may help. |

For me I find a hot bath, iproprofen gel or spray, trying to keep moving through the pain, staying still will make it seize up
Hope you feel better soon

"Thanks all. May have to be sports massage Monday. But hot bath will have to do for now."
Just be careful lovely. If it completely seizes, you'll be stuck in there and like you said, you're on your own |

Google egoscue method, gentle relaxing & has worked for me. If it is more specific in location look for trigger point therapy, more painful but again .. Worth a try, self administered .. No one can hear you scream... |

"Try rolling up a towel to the length of your spine and gently lying on it in the floor.
It helps everything realign itself.
My physio recommended as I went on holiday mid treatment"
Will try that now |

One needs to have it assessed before treatment, could be muscular or multitude of things , compressed disc , prolapse disc etc etc , unless there is a professional on here with a MRI scan in his / her pocket |

Back exercises are good ... google them ...
I did them lying down on the bed so your back is supported but going to your gp and asking for a referral to a physio for an assessment is your best bet .. I was in chronic pain .. I was sent for an MRI scan , eventually I had an epidural ....the relief was amazing ....good luck . |

Ooo i feel your pain. Back problems are the most crippling pain I've ever had. I suffer with a sij joint problem due to a car crash. 4 months of physio and now waiting to see orthopedic surgeon.
Try back stretching exercises and alternating hot and cold compresses that works for me.
Failing that get some naproxen from doctor its the only thing that makes me feel human and pain free each day.

If it's an old injury, warmth to loosen you up- wheat bag or hot water bottle.
If it's new, cold to take the inflammation down and when you remove the cold compress the surge of red blood cells to the area will help.
Either way, keeping gently mobile and using anti inflammatory pain relief will help.
You can use ibuprofen and paracetamol at the same time if it's really bad- every 4 hours, but interspersed (so take ibuprofen, then 2 hours later paracetamol) obviously don't overdose though. |
