So I know this is a bit of weird one to put on this site but I figured there's a lot of people with a lot of different experience and knowledge, so basically I want to find a career working with animals, but have no idea how to get into it, any help or advise would be appreciated

Farmer. Go and offer your labour, mucking out sheds, feeding animals etc for starters

Without animal qualifications I would suggest getting a few years volunteer work under your belt first

What kind of animal do you want to work with? When I was first interested in working with dogs, I volunteered at kennels, shadowed other trainers and took every dog related course I could find before I went for my degree.

Is there an agricultural college near you? They run a wide variety of courses from fisheries management to veterinary nurse courses. You'd get some good advice there.

I've always wanted to work with dogs, cats and other household pets, a pet is like a member of your family and it's hard to take your dog to a kennel if your moving house or going on holiday or something, a lot of trust is needed, I think looking after peoples pets would make me happy

I think there is a local rspca in my area, I guess I'll find out if they need any volunteers and go from there, can't deal with working a job a I don't enjoy anymore

Oh you bad man but I needed that humour this morning - couldn’t stop laughing!!

Back to the real thread!

Some great advice, certainly volunterring could be the key as you can go and get some experience plus find out more with regard to qualifications and opportunity’s etc.

Get yourself out there, enjoy it and make it happen!
