I did a day skipper course a few years ago, but haven't really used it much.

Can anyone remind me what distance out I can go from shore, is it stay insight of land or can I go from say Liverpool to Ireland, UK to France distances?

Hi

In theory you could travel from Liverpool to Ireland during daylight hours. Most people use the cert so they can travel around the med or any other smaller oceans or lakes. Sight of land is not necessarily a requirement but it all comes down to your sailing experience. If you wish to rent a boat in the med or some of the Baltic states you will require the skipper cert as would the the case with most rya registered marina and rental marinas. The distance you can travel on open water in the uk and restrictions will usually be conveyed to you prior to rental. Inland is a totally different situation. Happy sailing

I was thinking of sailing from Liverpool to the Isle of man, for next year's TT.

Cheaper form of travel and my accommodation is covered as well.
