When there is a problem at an airport, whether if a flight has been cancelled or delayed due to bad weather, technical problems with the plane or air traffic control going down, why do fully grown adults act like entitled tantrumming 5 year olds when this happens?
It saddens me that people would not be civilised and decide to stomp their feet and scream on the top of their lungs demanding to be put on the plane without even caring that the delay or cancellation is for their own safety. |

"Airports: A melting pot consisting of the good, the bad and the bat crap crazy!"
Indeed. I remember watching Airline when it used to be on TV and there were some ignorant people on that programme as well. |

Have you ever needed to be somewhere urgently and then be told you can’t get there and it’s completely out of your hands?

I used to be a supervisor at a car rental company at the airport.
The week of the big Chinook disaster that killed everyone on board the families of a few of the men were taken thro the airport amd we had complete silence as a mark of respect til an announcement was made that they'd gone thro. One guy came to our desk bawling and screaming he wanted his rental car NOW and this was an airport not a morgue. Iv never seen such a disgusting display of behaviour.
Needless to say he didnt.make his meeting. I cancelled his booking and he ended up getting arrested x |

I used to be in charge of delays for an airline company who were based at manchester airport..
I had total control over how much compensation to give, whether they got accommodation for delays if over 12 hrs, and obviously all the knock on effects the delays caused at onward airports...it was a thankless job i tell you |

Sadly no as I've always made sure to set off early in plenty of time. |

The problem is the budget airlines.
Years ago anyone that wasn’t a celebrity or a member of the aristocracy thought themselves lucky to have one foreign trip a year for a family holiday. It was a privelidge and a pleasure to fly and the whole process was exciting and all were on best behaviour.
The budget airline have normalised air travel to the level of where the availability to the masses is equivalent to coach travel. The frequency with which people can take flights is hugely increased and any sense of class has been removed.
Flights at ridiculous times don’t help. Who ordinarily is up and getting pissed whilst cramming down a full English at 5am usually.
The airline industry (the airline and the airport) likes to stress travellers. Queues, ‘security’ checks and restrictions, long snaking routes around duty free and hundreds of yards of walking to the gate are all designed to slow, to stress, to disorientate and bewilder, all with the idea of making you spend more money as you go through to make up for the reduced cost of the flights.
Online check ins and bag drops are to get people into the bars early, and the problems are inevitable.
The solution is to raise the cost to a minimum of £300 for a return trip. Price out the dickheads and make it feel magical again. And give people the option of a 5 year ban from flying or a £10000 fine for anyone acting up in an airport. |

I agree that airlines & airports don't help matters but the cost of a ticket has little to do with. An arsehole is an arsehole, the size of there wallet doesnt come into it. |

Cringeworthy or what?!! I’m not sure if this is a serious post or not.
‘Rich people’ never behave badly, use language, display poor behaviour do they.
Because of a handful of people who have lost their heads, you want to make affordable air travel a thing of the past for everyone else!! Get a grip!!
As already said, an arsehole is an arsehole! How much you charge for a ticket doesn’t come into it. |

Waits for the next thread to start saying single guys shouldn't be allowed on fab unless they pay £1000 per minute...
Wonders how money and ability to pay ever stopped anyone from behaving like a dick?

I think if I paid thousands for a holiday i’d be a bit pissed off too but i’d like to think i’d keep a level head about if, after all it’s not the people behind the desk fault there is an issue. I do feel sorry for them really the amount of stick they get and it’s never their fault in the first place. I couldn’t do the job I am far too much and emotional wreck.

Having been in delays a few times, the only thing I ask, is that they keep people informed, but everyone disappears when there is a problem, which is what bothers me. Yes I'd rather be delayed if there is a technical fault with the plane. |

Contentious but maybe airports should be dry these days and passengers should have the choice of flying on wet or dry flights?
I'd happily do short haul on a dry flight, having sat cringing in my seat surrounded by boozed up hens/stage/general knobs on more than one occasion.
Oh no that would never happen as they make too much money in alcohol.
(I'm a drinker btw ) |

"I work for an airline and literally have grown men shout in my face everyday. They're 100% the worst for it. "
I used to work in airport security and can confirm that middle aged white men are the worst.
"Do I look like a terrorist" said one when I asked to search his bag.
"Actually you do look a bit like Martin McGuinness" didn't go down too well. |

As a frequent flyer you see so many numpties...
Those in the know, just get on with it.
A plane, As said already, is a glorified flying bus. We are all going to get to the same place at the same time. Why rush push and fight to get on a plane.
Planes have faults and breakdown like buses do. It's life. Feck all you can do about it. No point in bitching.
Always find it funny when someone kicks off.. feel sorry for the staff and try to be as friendly as possible every time.
A smile and a chat goes a long way to ease the day I think.
