I think it's a question of balance. We are always at risk of unforeseen events beyond our control, so to imagine you've got it all sorted is a little naive, however, totally leaving oneself to the fates in terms of not having a vague retirement plan, say, or protection for your dependents in the event of your death, plus a couple of good friends who will help you in an emergency, is sailing a little too close to the wind.
But a bit of flexibility and spontaneity can be good for the soul |

Trying to have some things in order like my work.. etc but on other levels I’m totally winging it from now on as it seems the best laid plans never work out!! |

I genuinely Don't have a fucking clue what is going on most of the time. I have had order many times but lost it and ended up winging it. Right now though, I have no wings and no idea. |

Totally winging it. I don’t have anyone else to look after or consider so any disasters along the way don’t tend to affect anyone else. I just bimble along and although I do tend to err on the side of caution and tend to be careful with my money, I seem to be OK, so far. Luckily I’m not wildly ambitious and fairly easily pleased |

99% in order
House in a nice place with a cheap mortgage
No finance on our car
The last of the loan we took out to refurbish the house will be paid off next year, it’s our biggest fixed outgoing at £321 per month so more than the mortgage.
Decent amount of savings
Decent pension pot, checked the other day and it’s at around £48k already so would be roughly £300k if I took it at 55 at this rate.
I think we’ve got our heads screwed on very well in the decisions we’ve made from being 19 until now, so the last 6 years or so.
We’ve worked hard to build up to where we are now, we earned £500 a month combined at 19 before changing careers.......so glad we made that decision. |

We’ve been together since 16 and for the first few years, splashing out and flashing the cash was a trip to Costa for a bit chocolate and slice of cake!
We’ve got a baby on the way so everything is about to be turned on it’s head
Rather excited though! |

Winging it always.Sometimes with two wings, sometimes just the one and a couple of tail feathers.
Thought life would be sorted by now but as the old saying goes-People plan, God (or the Universe) laughs. |

You've done it the right way round though, house and savings before a baby. You sound like you'll be fine. Xx |
