Now that there’s Apple Pay I don’t even need to take my card. Dangerous times.
Even more dangerous if I’ve got makeup or something on my thumb and it tells me it’s not paying cos it’s not my thumbprint lol |

Card or Apple Pay.
There’s also the banking app which makes tracking everything super easy.
As for ease of spending, a little willpower and common sense is all that’s needed.
The only time I generally would use cash would be buying a second hand car privately, or something similar. Something costing a fairly large amount.
It’s much easier for someone to accept a lower offer than their asking price if you put £6k down in cash in front of them. |

In most cases your money is protected, I got scammed once they took £70 for a item and didn't send me it, After I reported it to the bank the money was back in my account the next day, Another time someone cloned my card, They bought 2 items for £50 then tried to buy a TV, The bank was onto them and froze my card, Again I got all my money back, Not everyone is so lucky but its more about the convenience of being able to buy without carrying the cash for me |

To be fair, we’re not interested what the cash looks like, when we bought our last car we did a bank transfer because the dealership would only accept £3k a day in cash due to money laundering regulations. It would have taken a lot of days at £3k a day to pay for our new car! |

My hubby is a trained banker (not UK) and has been telling me since I meet him to hold cash.
Reason being that he says 99percent of UK banks run systems from the 70's on which more stuff has been add on.
He was consulted by a high street name months ago about their software change and his opinion was "you must be barking".
They still went ahead and they crashed..so I believe him more and more that to have cash is a need.

cash is king
no cards here
any type of card
there trackers, logging every thing you draw out where you spend it , what hole in the wall you used etc etc etc
plus the risk of getting it cloned ,on line fraud etc etc etc
just use cash , then nobody knows your business |

I never have cash on me! I have a purse but I keep it at home with any business cards etc that I may need in the future.
I always keep my bank card with me though and pay for absolutely everything on card. Food, water, taxis, shopping, clothing etc etc. Even the vending machines at work have contactless option but doesn't accept notes.

I wonder if,in the old days when cash was being introduced, there were people who didn't like or trust the idea. After all,a tenner is only a note promising to hand over some gold when requested,it has no intrinsic value.
"I doesnt trust that there new fangled cash money, give me a good old fashioned gold bar any day,so handy for bashing muggers on the head and you'll always hear it if you drop it".
Personally, that's why I like credit cards. It's a vague promise to hand over the gold at some time,or not if I dont feel like it.Much more flexible than actual money....You can't spend what you don't have.Well, actually, yes you can. |

I’d be lost if I couldn’t shop online. I don’t know how you do it
I do keep some cash on me just Incase and if things cost under £5 I’ll pay in cash but apart from that it’s always by card! I’ve been scammed online but my bank was very good and I got it back no problem! I also don’t keep all my money in the account that I use my card for so if they did wipe out my account they wouldn’t get all my money!
When you go in the bank to get real money out, do you not use your card then? If I take money out from inside the bank I have to use my card to get it??? |

Judging by the chaos in the supermarket on Friday they will never make it obsolete!
What about the elderly as well who can't remember pin numbers and stuff ... It's not just as simple as making cash obsolete I don't think x |

I agree London is different and much easier to get around with just cards.
We have cards out in the sticks too. It's equally as easy to just use cards "

I went to my parent’s without cash and realised I was stranded in the middle of nowhere when they went out one day. I had to walk 3 miles to get to a cash point |

I don’t know what actual money looks like these days, I use card for practically everything. I do save fivers, try not to spend them and hide them from the hubster...
Shhhhh don’t tell him |

I pretty much use card for everything.
Contactless all the time.
Actually spent $20 dollars in cash today though as i found it in my purse (been that long since I opened my purse as I just take my card everywhere with me) which I've no idea how long had been there I don't remember putting it in my purse! |
