Ok

So most random post.

I'm really curious about Buddhism and the beliefs. I wish there was like an idiots guide to Buddhism I could read.

But where does sex, or more honestly our scene fit into that if at all?

Discuss .

I go to the temple and meditate quite often, I go to the kadampa centre, I’m not a Buddhist but a couple of my friends are. Not really sure what their view is but the ones I know are poly. Very sexual people.

Somewhere In The Ether…

As I understand it, sex is only permitted within marriage.

I only follow the new kadampa tradition which is a modern day version. Maybe very strict Buddhist would refrain but my friend who lived in a monastery for 6 months was poly and had many women he loved equally. He definitely didn’t abstain.

Just found this so I guess being on Fab wouldn't be consistent with being a Buddhist!

"Morality. For a practising Buddhist it consists of maintaining the five Buddhist Precepts, which are to refrain from:

Deliberately causing the death of any living being;

Intentionally taking for one's own the property of another;

Sexual misconduct, in particular adultery;

Lying and breaking promises;

Drinking alcohol or taking stupefying drugs which lead to lack of mindfulness."

But must reglious people seem to pick and choose what they like rather than actually sticking to their particular religious doctrine.

So I'm not talking strict bhuddism, I'm interested more because it's not a religion as such but more a set of values.

Hmmmmm

I think all the religion said that.

I always consider myself to be a good Christian, I don't believe in God though, so I can see where you're coming from.

Actually I have a copy of The Pocket Idiot's Guide to Buddhism by

Bradley K. Hawkins.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss/260-5699734-8535062?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=The+Pocket+Idiot%27s+Guide+to+Buddhism

It is a good readable introduction and overview.

Buddhism is about moderation and would probably disapprove of swinging and any obsession with sex or anything else.

I am drawn to meditation and the psychological and practical aspects of Buddhism but, damn it, I think of sex constantly.

Then do what I do, I’m not a Buddhist but I go to the classes and guided meditations often and have a few books on how to live a happier life. I like the subject related classes with meditation as the mind fascinates me and they teach you how to control it better.
