Yes really
When the statistics show that men are paid more than women, it's correct, but what you'll find is the statistics aren't specific, they cover a range of age groups and work sectors.
Women are more way more likely to leave their career or put their career on hold to be the primary child carer (which, before anyone starts, I don't have a single issue with)
Women on maternity, or not working at all tend to be paid less than a man. |

Statistics get twisted very easily to reflect whatever the current trend is.
Facts are facts.
Over my working life I have experienced it.
Look at the fact that female actors are being recompensed rather than talking about career breaks for children.
I have childless female friends who are still paid less for doing the same job.
(And I swore to myself I wasn't gonna bite- oops!) |

Maybe them female actresses should get a better agent
And you're right, they do get very twisted depending on the trend. Glad we agree on somethinf |

"You need to reword the title - men can be feminist, too
Oo- explain please?"
You don't need to be disabled to oppose discrimination of disabled people.
You don't need to be black to oppose discrimination of black people.
You don't need to be a woman to oppose discrimination of women.
I know plenty men who would consider themselves feminist and have no qualms calling out other men for their attitude.

This.
Also it's not just about equal pay but about an equal society for all genders. If you think that has been achieved, well I'd hazard a guess you're male. |

It seems that some people on this thread think that feminists are all the same and that there's something wrong or unusual about being a feminist. I think it's more common than people realise and different feminists will view it differently. Most men and women I know could be described as being feminist. There's nothing wrong with a bit of equality. |

I have absolutely nothing against men and women being treated as equal, I treat them both the same. But I dont agree men and women should be the same in the name of equality. I believe people should be paid in relation to how good at their job they are and how much time and effort they put into it.
Ronda Rousey said it best at a UFC interview. The interviewer asked does she think it's fair men are paid more than women in UFC because UFC is a "mans" sport
Ronda said something along the lines of "I'm the highest paid UFC fighter here because I bring the company the most money" |

wrong. There are plenty of men who support more equality for women who quite happily say they are feminist..the word refers to an ideology, someone's beliefs, not their gender. |

I thought this too. However I Googled "can a man be a feminist" and the results were depressing. The gist seemed to be that feminist women want equality but don't want men to join their exclusive club. |

But what about a man transitioning to a woman? At what stage does the "feminist" mind-set get installed?
How about women transitioning to men. At what stage does they lose the right to be a feminist?
Men, women and anyone in between can be a feminist
Only women can be feminists, fem as in female/feminists. Hope this helps.
don't agree at all, plenty of men support feminism. |

Of course they can. I know a few that consider themselves feminists. I had a big argument over this with one and he put me straight. |

of course they can! how stupid! it's not a description on someones gender, but their ideals. It's not hard to grasp! Men are allowed to agree with gender equality, there's no law against it! |

But they can’t be called feminists, cause fem is feminine which is French for women only. |

That's not what I was saying.
It said the women feminists wouldn't let men call themselves feminists because they're not women. |

I’m a feminist worse nightmare! Ads hates it because I insist he doesn’t lift a finger and do everything for him as ‘I see it as my job’ but of course he doesn’t allow me to do that. I think I just saw my mum do it and followed on from her.
They do need a good cocking though!

I wonder why men feel so angry about equality. I wonder if they are worried they'll be subjected to the same treatment men have subjected women to. It's a shame they lack the imagination to see a truly equitable society. And it's a shame some women feel the need to appease them. |
