Technically no.
There’s no law against it.
Regretably society looks to footballers (sadly in the absence of real role models), to set examples. In all likelihood this will be seen as at best an acceptance of, and at worst an encouragement of, gun (gang) culture.
Despite his own explanation that this isn’t the case it probably isn’t the brightest move, but these guys aren’t on £200k a week for their brains.
Making him remove/cover it before the World Cup represents censorship of a type that we would look unfavourably on if done by the Russians, so no. Better to allow him to keep it and let everyone draw their own conclusions/form their own opinions. |

"Raheem Stirling has a M16 assault rifle tattoo on his leg. Should he have to cover it up while playing football? X"
And if he was Scottish?
Well, he wouldn’t ever be going to a World Cup I suppose.. |

If you read his justification for it, it's admirable.
It's actually the reverse of what you would assume- and it opens a debate which is healthy.
His father was his inspiration. He promised he would never pick up a gun and uses his right foot to "shoot" with. A clever double meaning, I think.
And the haters will be just as ignorant of all this tmrw as they are today. |

Storm in a teacup. Poor choice made by a man with too much money. Suspect his agent has dreamt up the deep meaningful story behind it after calling him a twat and telling him to pull his socks up. |

I ain’t miffed about it. Just seems to be a poor choice in my opinion.
It just conjures up Nutters shooting school and college kids for me.
Each to his own, I just think there are better ways to honour your father... |

Many people have to cover tattoos as part of their employment contract. I used to work for a high street opticians chain. During my time there I had a tattoo on my inner forearm and had to cover it with a bandage |

I doubt it was that kind of gun that killed his dad
He’s making up excuses to justify the tattoo.
Young , dumb and pots if cash
He would be better off saying I like guns and play call of duty .
(At least it’s excusable , ) |

You are right about the ignorance , a friend's 7 year old boy commented on it today telling me he wanted a gun to shoot with and how cool the footballers gun was !
That's the problem with double meanings and hidden meanings they are usually misunderstood with negative or contrary consequences
The simple , very simple fact beyond the known sentiment is many people are not very bright or jump to quick assumptions
Regardless of its intention thousands of stupid kids WILL associate the tattoo with gun glorification and and in this case the outcome is more relevant than the intention
I don't agree with censorship per se however I do think children do need to be protected from , violence , explicit sex , drug glorification , weapon glorification ?
In my opinion children are subject to too much adult content xxx |

Agree it's a fuss about nothing but he must've known the kind of reaction he was going to get.
It would have been nice if he'd have stopped and thought "naah, I'll leave it for now and concentrate on doing well for England"
We all know he's got a sock down, point at my the tat celebration worked out if he scores. It's all so "me, me, me." |

"If he'd been hit by a bus would he have had a bus tattoo? Or a packet of fags for lung cancer? "
A very good friend of mine was rap*d in her teens
Perhaps a tattoo symbolizing a woman being violated would seem respectful I'm sure no one would think me misogynistic? And who cares if everyone thought I have no respect for women they would be idiots as I'd know the real reason ?
Ok the shooter on his leg is indeed a clever idea with regards analogy and I genuinely respect the thought and sentiment however
I feel so uneasy about the imagery of guns , it is a wide and confused genera where a number of gangsta types also have hand gun tattoos with a differing meaning
I would also agree that in a positive light the issue raised could indeed be used to show that impulsive assessment and judgment based upon visual appearance and little else is a shallow and problematic way me thinking x |

"The tattoo is as dumb as him saying it's in memory of his father who was shot dead and gunned down to death. "
I think the idea behind it that his right foot is his gun and that’s all he will ever shoot with as he promised his father he’d never pick up a gun. |

From one of the worst strikers of the ball in the PL.... it's quite ironic!
It should be a water pistol!
Seriously tho, it's kind of a dumb thing to do but he doesn't come across as the sharpest tool in the box. Whether or not his supposed sentiment is true or a PR cover up, kids are influenced by what they see.
As for comparisons with the Arsenal Cannon.... when was the last time a cannon was used in gang warfare/terrorist atrocities etc? ![](/icons/s/rolleyes.gif) |

When he went into the Tattoo shop he asked them to tattoo his sex and IQ.
They started to type M16 then he realised and thought I know a gun would look better instead
People are so precious, as if people who are going to use a gun are influenced by anybody. |

Don’t listen to the hype. Another poor media campaign to divide the team. Come on fabbers we’ve got a great team, who can potentially achieve something.
I say let’s sing “3 lions on a shirt” and let’s all get behind the team instead of putting pressure on our players over nothing!
CUM ON ENGLAND!!! |

Mentality of youth today!
He should set an example, it’s obviously offended some people who idolise him.
When you are a famous and a potential role model to so many kids you need to set an exemplary example.
Too much money and not enough brain cells! |
