If you had a song that reflected on every time your heart was broken in the past, what would it be?
For me, it would be Never Again by Justin Timberlake.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jb75-C-AYCE
This song always reminds me of all the heartbreak I've been through in past relationships especially with the last one I had a couple of years ago when she decided to dump me by text just a few days before Christmas and she didn't even say sorry.
Moving on is easy, but its the painful memories I cannot stand |

The Night We Met by Lord Huron.
I heard it for the first time yesterday and it really reflects how I feel. The last three lines of the chorus anyway.
''What am I supposed to do, haunted by the ghost of you, take me back to the night we met'' |

"Forever Autumn, Justin Heywood, although a brilliant it always makes me melancholic.
I'd jump from a bridge... Awful. It's so dated."
Er, I think that was what OP was after, songs that reminded you of heartache. So, for me that song does just that. |

It’s gotta be Ice Cubes ‘It was a good day’
How he has a good breakfast then goes out for a ride and doesn’t get car jacked. Meets up with his homies and a girl he wants to ‘dig out’.
There’s no ghetto birds flying round the hood and he doesn’t have to use his AK.
Then at the end of the song he realises it’s just a daydream..
Doesn’t remind me of a break up but I cry like a baby when I hear that.
So Sad. |

I guess I’ve been lucky, I’ve only had my heart broken once, three years ago.
This is the only non-kick ass song that makes me think about the end of that relationship

My brother finished with a long term girlfriend many years ago, he played roxette, it must have been love. Can still see him bawling his eyes out when I hear it |

But seriously. If you just want to bawl your eyes out at the devastating beauty of life you can't do much better than Mozart's Piano Concerto 23 Adagio

After a heartbreak, I would sing along to the song Slept So Long from the movie Queen of the Damned to let out how I'm feeling.
Walking, waiting, alone without a care.
Hoping, hating, things that I can't bare.
Did you think it's cool to walk right up, to take my life and FUCK IT UP?!! WELL, DID YOU?!! |

"Emeli Sande - Clown
Alicia Keys - Try sleeping with a broken heart.
The Script - Rain.
Gotye - Soneone that I used to know.
Evanescence - My Immortal. "
Oh gosh, yes, Gotye I played that to death!
I’ve thought of some more
Somebody Else - The 1975
You Ruin Me - The Veronicas |

Well for all us "oldies" who don't need foul-mouthed expletives in the title or the lyrics try getting back to the decades of real heartbreak songs...the big rock and roll hitters weren't just about jive, be-bop and rock and roll.
Here's just a tiny handful:
"I just don't know what to do with myself" Dusty Springfield
"You've lost that loving feeling" Righteous Brothers or the King himself: Elvis
"I can't stop loving you" and "Crying" both by the one and only "Big O" Roy Orbison
and for the slightly more moderns amongst us:
"Knowing me knowing you" by Abba
There are thousands more out there, breaking up isn't new.
And for those who've feel they've found the real thing: try "Andante" by Abba.

It must have been painful what he went through.
The last breakup I had was the worst because not only was she my girlfriend at the time, she was also my best friend who I had known for many years. |

Oooo, these spring to mind:
No Distance Left To Run - Blur.
It's Over - Neil Young
Over You - Roddy Frame
I'm sure there's more - I'm surprised nobody has mentioned that Adele one....
I do like these music threads |

Day After Day by Badfinger
Perfect song to play when feeling sorry for yourself after being dumped! 1972 was when I first played it for that.
