He’s just won the Giro d Italia, along with winning the Tour de France and the Vuelta, he’s now won all three Grand Tours in a row. Without doubt the greatest GC rider of his generation.

Well done Chris.

For a substance they are allowed to take, he uses an inhaler and one of readings was high, but theres doubt on whether the testing methods are accurate.

Not for that reason at all

Most teams are sponsored & as they pay money all races now finish the last day in the Capital cities, watched by big crowds & photographed for Newspapers & filmed for the telly,

So we may PURCHASE there WARES .

Most teams parade together while showing there colours & sponsors on the last day .

Insert Team before any of these

Sky ( media )

Banesto ( Bank )

AG2R ( Insurance/pensions)

BMC ( Bicycles )

Movistar ( Telephones)

Its nearly always been about advertising

Yellow jersey Officially represents L'auto ( yellow paper) the sponsors way back in 1919

Pink jersey as race was founded by La Gazetta dellasport

( Pink Paper )

Informaciones newspaper founded the Vuelta but havent got a clue why they want a red jersey.

Its all about the dosh .

The leader is tested after every stage of any Grand tour. cycling is the most regulated when it comes to doping, but it is always the whipping boy cause it’s an easy target because of what went on in the passed.

So what happens if someone is say 10 seconds or less behind the leader going into the last day. Can they go for it,if it's close and go for the win.

The last stage is always a procession,a flat stage where everyone finishes in a sprint, in theory someone could attack the jersey but that’s usually frowned upon.

"

The final stage is usually fairly short (to give time for all the prize giving) and relatively flat meaning that it's hard for a small group to compete with the efficiency of the peloton.

Any sort of attack would be easy for them to catch.

I was just thinking that I'd be a bit pissed if I'd got so close after riding all those miles. Then not allowed to have a crack at the win on the last day.

Mind you...I'd still be doing the first stage while the winner was finishing the tour.

You could still attack, but it wouldn’t stick, the team with the leaders jersey would just chase you down, which is easy to do on a flat stage.

Most cycle paths are a joke to be honest in this country, if you ride them you’d see what I mean and you usually get debris like glass etc on them, plus cyclists are doing you a favour by being one less car on the road clogging up the system.

It does, but that’s on the flat, but there is no drafting effect going up mountains, so he’s still got to be the strongest cyclist.
