Did anyone ever play what we called the Grand National as kids, some my call it garden hopping.
Start at one end of a street and and the first person to make it to the other end of the street by jumping from one back garden to another was the winner, best done at night, usual obstacles included. Fish ponds, angry dogs, clothes lines, the odd patio set and green house. All done at speed. Oh how i loved my child hood without computer games |

Trophy.
Basically involved doing handstands then various positions with your legs. It also included cartwheels and the crab.
NB.. I can still do them all

In Stevenage it was apparently called "Boston Kickout" and they made a film with Rick from The Walking Dead in it |

Hares and Hounds.... Needed 2 bigish groups. Team of hares and team of hounds. The hounds would give around 5minutes for the hares to go into hiding either in group or split but the hounds had to stay together when hunting the hares. To catch a hare you had to hold on to them for 10seconds which then would turn them into hounds and join the pack. It was great fun and the game could very well last all day. |

British Bulldog
And we used to spend hours outside on our bikes and away making dens.
It's sad that kids just want technology these days, they are missing out. |

Get you with your access to erotic movies, we had to wait for something party to show up late night on Channel 4.
I seem to remember The Camomile Lawn was a big hit with the lads at school (or Camomile Porn as they waggishly dubbed it) as was Lipstick On Your Collar, featuring a very young Ewan McGregor |

So true, these games we played outdoors will become myths soon.
But its not the same world we live in today. Not a safe place to leave your kids unattended all day till late at night, we used spend all day exploring woods and derelict buildings etc, miles from home then come back at night. |

Were they really any safer, those days?
Or are we just more alert and aware now? |

"What was the game (if it can be called that) where you breathed in and out rapidly, then held it and they pushed on your chest and then you fainted?"
I remember that, it was a playground fad but i never tried it |

I think similar bad things happened but if it was outside your county you never heard about it.
Now if a dog gets stolen 400 miles away it comes up on Facebook and 101 other media and social outlets |

Its a good point, but i guess more things are reported these days so i guess we think it a more dangerous place? But i do think teens on today are more thuggish, just my opinion and its probably due to the restrictions placed on the police to actually do anything about it |

all played by girls and boys it didnt matter who you was or what back ground you came from.
curby
british bulldogs
hares and hounds but we used the whole of the estate for that
tig on the street
hide and seek and tig with a difference it had a smidge of hares and hounds we had to do as estate was used on that game as well.
I never got caught as I was always up as high as 2 floors between 2 houses, back against wall feet against other wall.
nifey rope swing used and grab knife and restick back into ground on one swing was the rule
pile on rope swing as many as you can
as goes for woods we all went in groups to it and we all stuck together
also includes going through train tunnel near by as well |

Remember when Porkies was on telly and everyone talking about it next day at school
Also when The adult channel and Television X first started you'd get the 10 minute free view at Midnight. Lol |
