Anyone bellow, about or just over their body mass index (bmi)
On a personal note.
Have always been way bellow.
Told need put weight on.
Ain't got no fat reserves
Eat like fuck
Fast metabolism
Even eating much as 180g protein daily for months put no weight on me.
Arm span greater than my height
Just a freak of nature
But am happy with my body
Personally think its better to be below or just about surely its less strain on organs and joints etc moving a thinner leaner body around.
Surely the bmi was created long while ago, with people's life styles being totally different then, perhaps during war time, or least when people had allotments or used to manual Labour more, back in the days when perhaps a lot more fat reserves would be needed.
I not sure if the bmi is right now for todays life?

BMI is crap tbh. Whilst I know I'm overweight (or worse accordingly the BMI scale!) there is not a cat in hell's chance my weight should be 12 1/2 stone for my height and frame. Like Cartman I'm big boned.
I was pushing 14 stone as a semi-pro footballer 20 years ago and believe me I was fit as anything back then. As a 40yo I ain't getting anywhere near back to that level but I know what I'll be comfortable at and BMI will probably still have me in the "Obese" category as it's so flawed. |

I've lost weight in the last few months, even though I do consume a lot. And I wasn't exactly carrying anything in excess before either. And my bmi still says I am overweight. It can't be right! |

So maybe they have moved the bmi scale..like more in tune with society, thus guess making me appear even lower haha hence having been told in danger levels.

Aside from the fact that none can be above or below their BMI, they have a BMI that is on a scale which may or not be close to what is perceived as in a healthy range.
It's also well known about how pointless it is. I went for my smear and general health check last week, the nurse was astounded at my BMI having looked at me. (and I was about to go for a run so in leggings and a running top, not baggy clothes at all) and she was surprised that I am 'obese'
I eat healthily, low carb, good fats, high protein and as an ex vegi lots of veg. I am at the gym 3 times a week and run 3 times a week. |

The only change is that they have actually dropped the 'healthy' range from 20-25 to 18.5-24.9
Everything 25 upwards is as it has been for years. |

"I’m clinically obese . The charts are flawed . I’ve trained most my life and played Rugby at a high standard .... muscle weighs heavier than fat ... well so I keep telling myself "
So we the same height
Interesting comparison between you being obese like you said
And me being in danger levels so they say.
The scale must be fooked not fit for purpose, as most have pointed out.
Thanks everyone for your input, always good to hear others opinions |

My BMI at my current weight is hovering around the max for my height, yet people tell me I'm in great shape (for my age!), honestly though I do feel a bit overweight (felt best at around BMI of 22)and I think people's perception of what is a healthy size are now skewed because obesity is becoming the norm. |

Thanks for saying that buddy.
Old guy seen yesterday said was looking fit and healthy. Made my day, as he used to be a coach for Olympic swimming team.
But then status and women in my area...always seems request for muscles..rippling bodies.
Im never gonna get there.
I get lot of messages that im too skinny but feel healthy for it.
Thanks for your input bro |
