"Restart your computer in safe mode and use system restore to take it back to its last working point."
I don't know how to do that. I've turned it off and on and it goes straight to the annoying screen. It won't let me do anything,I've tried a few things from Google but nothing. |

When you turn it on repeatedly press f5 until a black screen comes up with writing on, it will say “start in safe mode” press that and then go from there. |

"Can anyone help before I throw my laptop out of the window? It's not doing anything apart from telling me that. Trying to recover version of Windows but doing fuck all."
Do you still have the box, the packaging and the receipt?
If so box it all up, take it and the receipt back to the shop you bought it from and tell them you'd like your money back as you're too dizzy to have a computer.

I don’t think you should comment in this thread as I remember right you don’t even know how to use simple mobile phone .
So your comment is not very nice especially when someone have technical issues and trying to ask for help.

Look it happened whilst my daughter was using it so officially it wasn't my fault. It kept trying to updatw Windows but it would get so far then stop. |

Turn your laptop off
Turn back on but keep pressing F8
You should get a screen with writing on, choose restart in safe mode
It will start but only run necessary programs
Find where it says system restore and click
Pick the last date listed your laptop was ok and click again
Should restore ok.

For the sake of my sanity now is not the time for jokes. It's annoying as I'm sure it's easy to sort. I shall be pressing lot's of F buttons tomorrow as you lot can't even agree which bloody number it is. |

"Is it Windows 7 or Windows 10?
We'll go with 10 shall we."
Windows 10 is a pain...
If you can't get to the login screen you will need a recovery drive to access Safe Mode and the other troubleshooting tools.
Do you have one on a USB stick? |

There is apparently a known issue with the most recent Windows 10 update, that may be related to having the Avast antivirus installed. Lots of Avast users have had problems after the update. So, if you can get to a Safe mode boot, try getting rid of Avast and then rolling back to previous working OS.. hope this helps! |

Northampton Somewhere |
When we installed windows 10 it fucked everything up. We took it into our local computer fixeruperer and they put it back to the old one and put a decent security thing on it. It cost about £90 and it was well worth it, much cheaper than throwing it out of the window!! |

I'm trying desperately to avoid that at the moment as I've had a lot to pay out for recently, but I fear I may have to. I already have McAfee security on it. |

Right the sticking point is it keeps asking for a password which to my knowledge I've never had one. Scrabble spent a lot of time kindly going through it with me yesterday. I need a Windows recovery dvd or usb. |
