Has been accused of inappropriate behaviour. Is it going to get to the point where you won’t even be able to compliment a woman ?

Reading some of the things he supposedly said I wouldn't say he was being very complimentary.

What PC bullcrappery is it when a man can't lift a woman's skirt and ask if she's wearing any underwear? Utter nonsense.

The man is eighty years old .

Way back before the Second World War as he grew up , I don’t doubt there were unthinkable things said to him . A different world entirely to the one we know now . He will no doubt be like any other eighty year old in this pc world we live in , wondering what happened to being able to just say something without being accused of being this that or the other .

What a shame for him .

It's only acceptable for women to do this to men in kilts! In fact it's law that we must!

This hasn’t been proven , innocent until proven guilty . I very much doubt he would have done this as nothing like it has been mentioned before .

I agree with you, it's a shame a lot of people don't see it for what it is and what it used to be like.

When I was a teenager I was attending sergeants mess functions and was accosted by many a d*unk married man or pinned against walls (or tents as the case may be) I always knew how to look after myself though, things have changed but I wasn't traumatised and certainly wouldn't look at going back in time and bring law suits against them, the whole situation is getting out of hand in a lot of cases

I spent six years in Aberdeen and saw many a kilted man. I didn't get the memo about asking about lack of underwear. Gutted.

His apology was along the words of that he has never meant to upset anyone , and that anyone who knows him will know he would never intentionally upset anyone . Certainly not an apology for what she says he did .

I know but I think his statement was damage limitation. I don't know if he's guilty of the allegations but if I was him I would have issued a similar statement.

It's sounds a bit more than a bit of different era if what's been written is correct. Sounds well creepy. I'll wait and see. Don't believe everything I read in the papers. Could be crap x

Yeah that’s a fair point and so would I , but when it’s someone as famous as he is , it’ll be the people advising him that will have told him to do it . I recall the terrible way Cliff Richard was treated not so long ago ....

Well you're gonna have one awesome weekend if you decide to go visit! 6 years of kilt lifting to make up for!

The way he was treated was appalling.

In the golden past the narrative was simpler. "We", whoever "we" were, could play around, say whatever we liked, do whatever we liked, even if that meant running roughshod over other people's feelings in the process. There was an inequality of voices and history was written from the perspective of the jaunty happy carefree powerful.

That world has gone. Now there is more of an equality of voice and "we", whoever "we" are, must be careful not to tread on any toes or upset any sensibilities. It is a new world. And it is one which many of us feel uncomfortable with. But it isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I too find myself allergic to "political correctness". But almost invariably, when you really drill down to it, it's often got a point. It just feels uncomfortable because it's different from the fun simple story of the past. I love Morgan Freeman. I hope none of the shit sticks

Is it going to get to the point where in 1986 dodgy Dave on the building site wolf whistled at a couple of women? It’s hard to tell from the statement he issued but I would like to think he didn’t do those things or at least if he did so them he is insanely sorry (also in light of the Weinstein case, why has it only come to light now?). I don’t think he is a dirty old man, just a man who probably thought he wasn’t really doing anything wrong (I mean lifting a skirt and it not being a welcomed lift is very wrong) I do think some women do take things a bit too seriously when a man says something that could be seen as remotely sexual, I don’t think he is a sex pest.

Geeky x

I’m backing this response, I suspect there is too much money involved in such a high profile accusation
