Fans in the US are pushing for the film to be boycotted as losing money is the only thing that'll make Disney listen and do something about Kathleen Kennedy and the direction she's taking the films.

So who will and won't be seeing it and who's happy or angry with the new films?

I'm gonna see it at some point as loved Rogue One and am expecting a similar film but was bored to death by Episodes 7 & 8 so will probably boycott 9.

Seeing Solo on Sunday, Looking forward to it.

Disney is a company that wants to make money and unfortunately is using the Star Wars franchise to do this, It a shame you feel the way you do and can no longer enjoy the films any more, I liked Rogue one and Ep 7,8 tho not perfect but I will hold judgement on them till Ep 9

Star Wars started to lose the plot when it got sucked into all the force nonsense.

In the original film (Ep.4) the force was limited to minor stuff like convincing stupid stormtroopers that "these are not the droids you're looking for".

The last film was like Lord of the fucking Rings sword and sorcery bollocks - virtual Luke fighting across the galaxy, Rey and Whatsisface having in depth conversations across the galaxy.

I wouldn't be surprised if people will be 'force flying' in the next movie like Neo in the sodding Matrix.

The force has killed Star Wars.

The force has been the underpin to every episode. It was there at the start and is there now. The final battle scene in Hope was all about the use of the force and was current throughout the entire film.

They're films. Not holy texts. A bad sequel doesn't make an original bad. Where do people get off on saying they're shit? I doubt many writers and directors could have made a Star Wars film as good as the last ones.

I actually quite enjoyed 1,2&3 as well. Way too much CG but fun in their own way.

Did have a good laugh at the critics having a massive wank over The Force Awakens just because it wasn't anything like The Phantom Menace.

Definitely boycotting it.

Ill watch it when it gets to kodi.

I hope it bombs at the cinema and Kathleen Kennedy leaves the franchise and rhian johnson gets the trilogy they are giving him taken away.

That guys decisions for episode 8 was awful.

Totally destroyed luke sky walker character. And the whole space chase thing scenrio.

Dont even get me started on the mary poppins leah scene where now the force can keep you alive in the vacuum of space.

Problem is they decided to make a sequel trilogy to star wars and didnt even make a script for it...they got one director to do one movie with his own ideas and then hired a different director to make the next movie with all his own ideas and completely ignoring all the things built up from the first movie.

Now the third movie will have the director from the first.

Thats not how to make a captivating flowing story.

You need one persons vision throughout so the movies blend together and not all over the show.

Look back at the originals, not the reworked editions, but the originals. They are not without fault. It’s well documented that even the cast though the story and script was imature. And we look back at the with fond memories, so hardened fans need to manage their expectations.

I actually feel Disney are doing a good job at feeding me enjoyable films. And as a fan that’s what I want. I don’t want depth in a si-fi film that’s packed with aliens and spacecraft fight scenes. I just want Starwars.

Disney apparently didn’t aren’t making their projected profits from the films, but I’ll let the business sites talk about that, I just watch and give it marks out of ten. So far it’s hitting a 7/10, and that’s better than most crap Hollywood churn out.

I will watch it over the weekend at some point. Whilst I would normally rush to see it, I will see it when work had calmed down at the weekend.

Personally yes I love OT (4-6), the PT isn’t as bad as people make out. I agree there are parts tht I don’t like but overal there OK. Now the NT, love FA, LJ, I actually did like it, because it made me think and expanded what is cannon. t first I didn’t like R1 but on subsequent watch’s I did enjoy it more.

Heard a few dodgy things about it so not overly excited but not boycotting as such.

Kennedy has made an absolute dogs dinner of it and should not have been let anywhere near SW. an interesting interview has just come to light where Johnson says he likes movies which divide audiences: love and hate: and you gave this man Star Wars?

These films really don’t need, in fact the opposite, the forced (see what i did) underlying agenda. It’s all too obvious, unnecessary and badly done. Oh and Carrie Poppins? FFS!

Not liking where Star Wars is going. Force Awakens was just New Hope 2.0, Last Jedi went out to kill everything you loved about Star Wars, how can Luke see good in Vader who has killed children, destroyed planets etc but contemplate killing his nephew who only thought about the dark side. The new series is just trash. Loved Rogue One, then again it being a prequel is what saved it can't fuck with it too much.

I'm not expecting Solo to be anywhere near as good as Rogue One, I expect it to be a marketing vehicle for toys/books/Lego and other merchandise. I don't think the grittiness of Rogoe One went down well with Disney, although I think Gareth Edwards should direct the final Star Wars movie

FFS, if you don't like something don't watch it, no need to piss on other people's enjoyment of something.

Also, one person not going to see something is not a boycott. That would be a mass protest of it, and everyone not going to see it.

Last Jedi is growing on me. Actually it wasn’t what we expected and I suppose I had in my head planned for 2 years for Luke to train Rey like Empire. So when I went to the cinema and was like wtf. It confused me.

Some of the fan groups ARE arranging MASS boycotts. They aren’t small groups either.

The protest is at Kathleen Kennedy, not the director and the thought is that if they show their willingness to not see this film then maybe Disney will do what they want re Ep9

Disney should tell em to stick to ‘fan fiction ‘ if they want only what they want. Or leave the filmmaking to them.

The more I think about this, the more it sounds like assholes upset when something doesn’t go their way.

Yes and no. Personally I have always though the OT has a bit of grittiness in it. The death of his aunt and uncle, the death of the sand people. The death of Obiwan, empire in general, the sail barge, Luke and Vader killing the emporer

So yes R1 had more - which I liked. Again is a preference. Empire and R1 are up there with my favourite star wars films. I agree the main Star Wars story should have Jedi and be about the skywalker family.

It will be interesting to see what rian Johnson’s new trilogy is along white the showtunnerd of game of thrones (not excluding faverau’s tv show). Do I want an obi wan or yoda film, nope.

Would I maybe like to see a period set before phantom menace, to see the Jedi dealing with Jedi type stuff

I did have a problem with the pacing of the film - something felt off.

Star Wars is my favourite film franchise but episodes 7 and 8 felt different. They had too much comedy in there that took me out if the experience and just felt forced.

Episode 8 had some really great scenes in it, such as Yoda and the last bit on the salt planet but I'm not a fan of Finn and rose is pretty pointless as a character. Plus I'm sure they said the word hope more than any other throughout that film!

I did love Rogue One though, after the original trilogy, it is one of the best films
