I know, I get a weird pain that I can't describe but it's very distinctive on one side of my abdomen and really watery discharge. Though, thank fuck for the mini pill as I currently don't ovulate at all! |

During your fertile period you should experience a sticky mucus discharge similar to egg white. It helps the boys on their way |

Omg Seeside I’m not trying to get pregnant, quite the opposite. I really don’t need strips my body tells me when I’m fertile and when I ovulate. I’ve always used that as contraception when in a monogamous relationship

"I mainly opened this thread to see how many men responded (and if I was right with my guesses).

Meli of course there’d be men on the thread. To be honest I’m glad they are. They might learn something of interest or may even notice some of the signs in their partner. This may be helpful especially if they don’t use any contraception. Equally it could be useful if they’re trying to conceive |

That could be another reason why most women don’t see the signs. We have busy lives why pay attention to something we don’t need to |

"I never knew.
Didnt know i was pregnant for 15 weeks.
20 years since i had a period
I wish I hadn’t known for 15 weeks, I knew before doing pregnancy test "
With each of my pregnancies I knew before my period was even missed, I didn’t need a test to tell me but only used them to confirm what I already knew.
I sometimes wish I hadn’t known so early as with some of my miscarriages. I would never have realised it was happening, I would have just thought it was a heavy, late period |

Even when I did have periods I never knew as I never had symptoms but then I never wanted to have kids so I suppose I never kept track, but then my periods were between 21-28 days, and yes I was caught out a few times.
Why are periods still a taboo subject? That is what I want to know? |

Which is correct for anyone that has a 28 day cycle for those that don’t you SHOULD ovulate 14 days before your period. This is why it’s difficult to predict if you have irregular periods. The female reproductive system is an amazing thing |

Very normal but when you have the Mirena coil it’s slightly different to the discharge you would normally get when ovulating. It causes the mucus to thicken to prevent the sperm moving through the cervix |

The apps are a good tool for tracking especially when your periods are irregular. PCOS isn’t good at all, one of the many complicating factors of the female reproductive system xxx |

I used to get obvious signs, outbreaks of spots, tired and moody. Heavy boobs and abdomen pain. Could go on. My periods were the worst. Pain was excruciating.
Been on the implant now for 3 years. Don't ovulate regularly at all. Sometimes I get signs and sometimes I don't.
Getting it changed for the coil soon. As it's been a living nightmare living with the implant.

Men you don’t ovulate just to clarify
You can get self test ovulation test strips from most shops if you want to trak it op.
Omg Seeside I’m not trying to get pregnant, quite the opposite. I really don’t need strips my body tells me when I’m fertile and when I ovulate. I’ve always used that as contraception when in a monogamous relationship
You’ve made me chuckle
Sorry. I'm use to ovulation talk from the donor site
At lest you got a chuckle thoe
How is that all going see side?
We'll still trying atm.
1 couple did catch but a week latter unfortunately lost it with a miss carryige.

That’s very sad Seeside, I’m sorry to hear that and I’m sure you don’t need me to tell the statistics for the occurrence of miscarriage x

Luckily I've had the sterilisation and ablation so haven't had periods for a couple of years
But did have horrific ones, sore boobs, cramps, headaches and they sometimes lastest 2-3 weeks!!! Hence the reason for the op.
The only way I knew I was due on was the munchies the week leading up to it. Chocolate and crisps by the ton! And boobs used to swell and get sore.
The only thing I can't understand with women, is why friends and/or family's periods seem to coincide with each other. Any ideas??

"I know, I get a weird pain that I can't describe but it's very distinctive on one side of my abdomen and really watery discharge. Though, thank fuck for the mini pill as I currently don't ovulate at all!
During your fertile period you should experience a sticky mucus discharge similar to egg white. It helps the boys on their way
That's what I call "the slug""

"Never had a regular period until I had a coil fitted two years ago. Now get a sharp, hot needle type stabbing pain down there
When you say ‘down there’.......?
Lower abdomen. Feels like a marble being shoved through a vermicelli noodle "

"I used to get obvious signs, outbreaks of spots, tired and moody.

Not all forms of contraception suit all ppl it’s a case of finding the right one |

I think those studies that suggested this have been discredited. Recent research also suggests the claims were unfounded but in reality I think the jury is still out |

"Ovulation occurs on day 14 of your cycle when your follicle stimulating hormones are low and progesterone is high
That’s a bit misleading and assumes everyone has a 28 day cycle
Sorry! Was only going on what I’ve been taught!
Which is correct for anyone that has a 28 day cycle for those that don’t you SHOULD ovulate 14 days before your period. This is why it’s difficult to predict if you have irregular periods. The female reproductive system is an amazing thing "
Not strictly true. The luteal phase (part between ovulation and getting your period) can vary but in an average 28 day cycle will be 14 days.
I ovulate around day 14-15 and my luteal phase is normally 17-19 days with an average cycle length of 31-33 days |

Sadly around 1 in 4 known pregnancies ends in miscarriage but there are also people who miscarry without knowing they are pregnant. October 15th is International pregnancy and infant loss awareness day which culminates in a wave of light where people light a candle @ 7pm in remembrance. Most ladies go on to have a healthy pregnancy after miscarriage but sadly some of us become another statistic (1% of couples) and go onto have recurrent losses. |

I often knew - due to the sharp pain on one side (also known as 'mittelschmerz' - middle pain) and the clear, stretchy 'egg white' mucus. But I've also used an ovulation microscope in the past which uses your dried saliva, displaying a fern pattern on the slide a few days ahead of ovulation when oestrogen increases. It's such a simple and easy device to identify peak fertility. |
