As a 40yr old, should I limit my search to women who are older than 30? Or is age just a number... and does love conquer all? Would any of you in your mid 20s date a 40yr old? How would those in their mid 40s feel about being married to a 60yr old? |

"When I was 28 in 1990, I met and had a 6 yr relationship with a 43 yr old, it was with her that I joined the world of open relationships and swinging when we bought a copy of Rendezvous
"
Was that a magazine for swingers or something? |

Whatever age range you are comfortable with meeting, should be your target. I have 30 as minimum age range, but am usually attracted to those closer to my own age |

When I was in my 20's I wouldn't of dreamt of dating someone 20 years older than me. Different generation therefore nothing in common.
8/9 either way would be my rule of thumb if I was looking to date |

Im 53 my partner is 75. Weve been together 12 years. Im not naturally attracted to older guys and i would never have imagined being in such a relationship but then love comes along and buggers everything up |

I would say keep a very open mind, take it on a person by person basis and make your decision accordingly on the chemistry with the person rather than being led by a number. |

As long as they are 18+ anyone is game in my eyes! It’s who you’re attracted too and not whether they are too old or young! Like you’ve said, age is nothing but a number! I’ve been seeing someone 17 years older than myself for just over 2 years and has been one hell of a time ;D Friends of mine think I only like older women but that’s Bull, I just like maturer minded women with a kinky side to please us all lol doesn’t matter if that meant they were 18 or 99! And frankly, FUCK THE HATERS lol they’re just jealous inside really |

I'm really glad I started this thread. What a bunch of lovely open minded replies
I was wondering if I was being an unrealistic perve. But the reality is that in real life I'm quite a vibrant young forward looking person, so get on well with similar people from 25 onward. When I'm hanging out with these friends they always treat me as if I was their age. So it's really easy to forget the age gap.
Thanks. I'll keep my search relatively open ended and see what the winds of fate blow my way |

I thought the old adage was half your age plus 7 (assuming 18+ obviously).
Although I dated (like actual dating) a 20y/o a little while ago and it was a very workable and fulfilling relationship until she wanted more than I could offer. |

Yeah, it was pre interweb days, but you can probably still get hold of it somewhere. It took about a couple of months to arrange a meet though, after several handwritten letters and waiting for yer landline phone to ring |

You should choose an age range which you feel comfortable being with.
I was 37 when I met Mrs2, she was 22. We've been together for 12 years this year and married for 3. |

I think kids level the playing field a bit too. I have a little boy. So I can easily imagine a woman in her mid 20s with a similar aged kid and that's already a huge compatibility right there. Meanwhile, a woman my age could easily have kids in their late teens... and I don't know if that would really work |

You are not being unrealistic, or a perve. I know some younger women like older men. That being said, touch my adult daughter and I'll chop your bollocks off |

18 upwards is fine between consenting adults. I would say though that at the lower age people need to be careful that the person is actually the age they say and not younger. XXX |

There and to the left a bit |
Only you can truly know what you're comfortable with OP - there really is no right or wrong answer to this one (aside from the obvious legal angle).
I have age ranges set for what I would generally feel comfortable with but wouldn't necessarily rule out people outside of those ranges if there was a connection and chemistry there and I felt comfortable with it, which is why the word "only" doesn't appear after mine. |

Do you actively look for women to date?
In the real world you could bump into someone of any age and hit it off.
I've had men of all ages show an interest in dating. |

Just like here, I don’t have any real age preference. I do question men much younger than me with more detail than I would someone my age because I need to know exactly what their expectations are but on the whole, I don’t even check how old they are.
It’s all moot though, I’ve had one date in 30 years

Yes. Actively looking. In real life I wouldn't think twice about age. I'd just start a conversation with anyone I fancied. But the whole online thing weighs heavily on age. It's that, more than anything (with most 20 somethings filtering out 40yr olds), which was beginning to make me feel a bit of a perve |

Age is just a number. If you get on, both want the same things etc then it isn’t an issue. I guess sometimes the barrier with that age could be you are both at different points in your life, but going back to what I said if you both are happy with one another, can fulfil each others wants / needs - go for it!
In my twenties I always went for mid thirties. Now I’m in my thirties I find the men I meet (beyond fab) are 45+ and that suits me down to the ground. We tend to be looking for the same thing despite the age gap. It’s rare I do anyone my own age, maybe 1 or 2 with a single figure age difference haha! |

It’s all about attraction for me. Age is just a number. Just to clarify I wouldn’t date or have sex with anyone that was underage! |

Well I'm 36 and whilst I mostly like to stay within 10 years either side of my own age, I still get hit on by girls in their early 20's when I'm out so I've got to think "How long are these opportunities going to last" and go with the flow that said I was out in Nottingham a couple of months ago and spent half the night with a 52 year old so I'm pretty open |

I work with a girl who has just turned 30, her fella of 10 years is in his mid 50’s. He was her lecturer at uni and she started seeing him when she was 19. Hasn’t done them any harm, they’re a solid couple. |

My feelings on that:
1 part good for them.
1 part dirty bastard. |
