Our perceptions if anyone in the public eye can be based only on what we see. Rolf Harris is/was a versatile talented entertainer! Whatever the outcome of this current investigation does NOT diminish that. A guilty verdict (should one in time b delivered) will no doubt colour our view of the man himself and invite our disgust BUT he will still have been the entertainer upon which his public persona was built. The two issues are separate |

Preconception of a person and assumption of guilt based on what you hear/read on the news does my fucking head in. Lets leave it to the judge and jury to decide his guilt/innocence eh!

I pray to god he is innocent of all charges and this could be the turning point of naming and shaming celebs before appearing in court as it has to stop.What a terrible way to spend your final years after such a great life and career if found innocent. |

Trouble is whether found innocent or guilty the damage has already been done to him, I truly believe no one (celebrity or joe public) should be named until the trial is over.
I really hope he is found innocent without doubt but fear that will not be the case  |

I agree look at Matthew Kelly & John Lesley both cleared of all charges, but neither have much of a career now. |

Terrible for anyone but they are much younger and do have many years of life in them but for a man of Rolf's age it is as someone else said disgusting if innocent. |

If they merely wanted to discuss the recent events they could have started a thread of their own. To search for a thread that is over a year old where the OP said he was a lovely man, which at the time he was to many people says to me they were looking the show the OP up.

It's no different to a normal member of the public who could(if the press were interested enough) be named as being charged with an offence. As i understand it, the press are very limited to what they can write about someone before trial, so all you get is who he is and what he is charged with.

This was/is a view that was held by the OP over a year ago.
Innocent or guilty of heinous crimes is immaterial on this thread. In no way am I condoning his ALLEGED actions, but in this Country we have - allegation, investigation, CPS decision, trial (or not), verdict and then punishment (or not)
How many can honestly say a view they held X number of years ago, is the same view they hold now. (Which ever way your view changed) |
