I've just been watching a programme featuring cover versions and wondered what everyones favourite and worst cover songs are. My favourite Shindowns version of Lynard Skynards Simple Man and the worst ever Rolf Harris Stairway to heaven.

Lately Bad Wolves’ Zombie has been on my list.
Also Highly Suspect’s version of Send Me An Angel although didn’t realise it was a cover until a couple of weeks ago!
Disturbed’s Sound of Silence is also worth a mention
Worst, anything by anyone boyband-esque!

"Joe Cocker - with a little help from my friends "
The definitive version I would say and will add
Christie Moore - Shine on you crazy diamond
Jerry Lee Lewis - Sunday morning coming down
Janis Joplin - Me and bobby mcgee
Rory Gallagher - As the crow flies
The worst is probably Rolf and Stairway |

"I always liked George Michael singing the Queen song Somebody to love at Freddie Mercury concert all those years ago."
Great choice
I've heard Taylor and May both say it was something special. |

Ziggy Stardust - Bauhaus.
Born to Run - Frankie Goes To Hollywood.
Say Hello, Wave Goodbye - David Gray. Love the originals but all add something.
Dreadful ...scouting for girls did a Clash cover, maybe London Calling? So, so awful. |

I heard that too, in the early days after Freddie died, they were looking to carry on and he did that cover at the memorial gig for AIDs (it's on Best of Queen 3). It never happened but let May and Taylor to keep going and get guest singers.
I'm actially glad it never happened though. |

"Surprised no-one's mentioned Hendrix's All Along The Watchtower yet
Or
The Birds - Hey Mr Tambourine Man.
Dylan is better when other people do it. "
Sacrilege!
The Byrds version is great, but Hendrix is the only cover of a Dylan song better than the original... |

Adam a fan of Lenton, Cash and Springsteen. I am forever indebted to the influence of Dylan. Though I must admit, he never really did it for me personally. |

Worst - Radio Gaga by Electric Six. More to do with the video though."
