So, I've just driven across town through rush hour and school run traffic and, I kid you not, I must have counted over 100 police officers, cars, vans, dog handlers etc... all out patroling the town centre in preparation for the weekend.
Christ knows where they have all come from? Thames Valley must have been left without any local police as they all appear to be here!
Vast chunks of the towns roads will be closed from 5am 'til midnight Saturday, the rail network has been juggled to get people in and out of town. There are TV outside broadcast units being set up all over the place. Car parks have sprung up in school playing fields for the day....
Now remember, Windsor is just a small town, not a city... probably only really still thriving because we've got a castle. How would your nearest town cope with an event of this size? |

I’m only down the road in Wokingham and our small market town in struggling during its own regeneration, it’s certainly not ready for an event any bigger than it’s (rather reduced) May Fayre. |

"How silly to build that lovely castle there. Right under the Heathrow flight path!"
And they are not going to alter said flight paths for the big day... some of those big planes oming into Heathrow are very low and loud! |

I'm even not sure cancelling leave would free up the number of uniformed officers I saw this morning, thats without the plain clothed that are no doubt lurking too. It would be interesting to find out the response times for incidents outside Windsor this week. |

Yeah because of the countrywide threat levels. |

Well they have to check and then secure drain covers, inspection covers for lamp-posts. Anywhere, where a device could be hidden. |

It's the amount of plain clothes ones that are about that would surprise you.
We were in the haha bar (a few years ago now lol) with our daughter in law. A certain ginger mingers brother was having a drink outside with a group of hangers on.
Dim daughter in law took out her phone to take a picture, about 15 people in plain clothes stood up, got in her way and advised her to put the phone away. There were also 2 unmarked cars close by as well.
To me it was intrusive and she shouldn't have done it, for no other reason than it isn't polite.

That's to stay in the castle itself.
It's cheaper but colder and less comfortable in the dungeon. |

Is it the Sir Christopher Wren?"
The Christopher Wren is on the bridge to Eton... there are 3 directly opposite the caste, The Harte and Garter, The MacDonald Windzor and The Castle... then I believe The Royal Adelade is also on route to The Long Walk. |
