I go to Spain often doing track days. I like to take my gear ,leathers,lid,etc in a suitcase which I have to pay roughly £40 pounds each way. Now I weigh 67 kilo and my case must not be over 20 kilo,yet i often see people who's left leg weighs more than my case. Wouldn't it be fairer if you payed for a combined weight,i.e passenger and luggage? Thoughts please |

Seems sensible. I don't have a problem confirming the combined weight of me and my bags. Additionally, I fly weekly and it bugs me that i need to pay £44 for a small carry on size bag just because I can only take a laptop case into the cabin. I could comfortably take both into the cabin and save myself the money.
I get that the airline needs to ensure they balance the aircraft with the right amount of fuel and all that.. It's a conundrum that they really need to figure out. I understand that in general airlines still consider the average weight of a passenger the same as back in the 60/70's... we all know on average people are much heavier now! |

Nope.
Short people should have less weight allowance.
2 pairs of my shoes pretty much make the weight allowance alone.
You should also be given smaller meals and less priority for drinks.
And you all smell.

On a similar but slightly (!) parallel topic, if I buy a 2 week package holiday, why do I get the same weight allowance as a 1 week package? I need more clothes....plus if I do go on a 2 week break I’m likely to weigh more coming home than if I go on a one week trip. Should I pay more, and if so can I use some of my extra allowance (see above) to negate the extra weight I am? |
