With the eurovision over, articles online are going on about polls suggesting a majority of people want to leave the contest.
If you could choose to either leave or stay in Eurovision, which would you choose and why?
I myself would choose leave as it's become way too political (not due to brexit) over the past years plus the contest is a complete joke. |

Would Buckfizz win now I wonder.
We dont seem to find a fun lively act that is capable of winning.
I would stay and learn to lighten up stop taking it serriously. |

are you really telling me any of our songs have been good enough to win......
the fact is that a lot of other countries take it a lot more seriously...
case in point that austrian song that finished 3rd last night..... it was originally offer to the uk, and the bbc turned it down.... |

I heard that we didn't get to finish the song thanks to that bastard protester plus the singer didn't want to perform it again.
It's no wonder we didn't get many points |

And if we did accept that song im betting the placing would still have been the same.

We would still have came nowhere...I don't think we will get anywhere near the top of the board in my lifetime again...they vote for countries now not songs. |

There's more to this if I remember correctly...
I've got a feeling that we (uk) pay the lions share to stage this contest. It guarantees us a place in the final.
Please correct me if I'm wrong |

I cant belive that the UK would even consider voteing never mind leaving the contest
We the irish have won it the most times 6 i think yet it has been 20 years ago sence we win it last and we didnt even make the final the last 4 years
The UK goes straight into the final no semi
I dont see an out cry to pull out of the world cup or the olympics
Where will this end
The UK from the outside is looking like it is turning from a world leader into a country of sour grapes
Its my ball and if you dont play by my rules then im taking it and going home |

the contest is split into two.... the jury professionals and the general public...
the professions just hear the songs the day before... the general public see the proformances...
at the end of the first half, which is the music professional... the uk were 2nd bottom....
the song was wasn't strong enough....full stop |

I don't know why we lower ourselves to receive the custard pie to the face every year?! All you need is establish an annual prize, ruled over by reputed music critics, for the best musical acts in Europe and we'd not only wipe the floor of everyone but we'd have been doing that every single year since the 1950s |

Case in point being Germany's entry last night was a blatant Ed Sheeran copy. No doubt that German guy modelled himself on Ed Sheeran. Ed Sheeran should sue them for copyright infringement. |

There is a difference between eurovision and the world cup or the olympics. The world cup and the olympics are sports that we always do well in.
As for the eurovision, it's either the UK has shit taste in music or we're just shit at singing. |

well the uk have done both over the last few years....
englebert humperdick at eurovision! really???
there was the duo who sang woefully out of tune....
think of it like this... if katie price comes 2nd in UK qualifying with a song... you know you have issues!!!
there were one or two that were not actually bad ideas... i am sure that blue "got" eurovision more than bert did or an over the hill bonnie tyler...... blue were top 10!
you say that the uk always does badly... the uk were half way last year |

I think we need better, more current songwriters. The pop, gimmicky ones are old hat now.
I don't watch it any more though, so I don't really have a voice.
I'm going to try to YouTube our entry. |

It’s an embarrassment now. Too political.
Besides everyone knows if it was about quality we’d be able to enter a decent act every year and win but we don’t take it seriously now and it is a load of unknowns getting nowhere. There was an attempt to send fairly well known old timers a while back but that was a disaster. |

Thanks for that Fabio The only trouble is that they're voting on the entries to the competition... not the best music acts in the whole of Europe this year Now that would be a starkly different result. Eat our dust |

Stop the world, Britain wants to get off.
For goodness sake, it's a harmless bit of fun that brings people together from all around the world.
How petty and insular would UK look turning its back on this along with everyone else about Europe?
if you don't like it, don't watch it. But don't let your petty jealousy and xenophobia spoil a fantastic occasion.

I love Eurovision and I hope we will stay part of it. There is political voting but there always has been. The difference is we used to be liked and now we’re not .... it’s been like that for a while now.
It terms of quality of song .... it’s Eurovision! It’s all pretty much trash and always has been |

We aren't part of the eastern European vote for your neighbour clan and our entries are crap so why waste all that money.
Mind you same could be said for the national team who will soon be heading to Russia |

If we are talking about leaving European competitions that we've no hope of winning again and where everybody hates us, then how about we get the fuck out of the 4 yearly European cup?
Or on a world stage, the world cup?
Fuck sake, it's a camp singing contest that sometimes takes itself too seriously, but on the whole is just harmless. The act that won last night was a lot of fun and a prime example of what should be in the show. If you don't like it, don't watch it.
At least it brings people together, unlike football which divides along idiotic tribal lines. |

It's all part of the ongoing shock that some British people feel when they realise that the rest of the world really doesn't think we are that special. |

There are programmes on tv that probably cost more and generate less interest or revenue for the station. As long as the viewing figures make the tv station money, that's all that matters really. If you don't like watching it - don't. If you want alternative shite music shows, there's The Voice, X-Factor, The UK Top 40 Show etc |

the only reason we make the finals is because the UK contributes to the cost of running the bloody thing, the voting is political which was proven last night with Moldova getting votes, the UK will never be seen as a positive popular vote cause of all the crap the the politicians have been doing over the year, it hasn’t been a song contest for about 25 years now.
So i say we should just pull out and let some other country take up the costs. |
