I love winding them up but my particular fave is one that I used on a claims management company

They said we are phoning about your accident

I said I’m so glad u called I really need to speak to someone about it

Straight thru to a supervisor:

Hello sir I hear you have had an accident - can u tell me about it ?

My reply - yea I was assaulted by a penguin at Edinburgh Zoo - I can’t sue the zoo so I’m pressing assault charges against the penguin - can you help ?

For some strange reason they hung up lol

Yeah I wouldn't say it was wise to piss off people who are just doing a job that they probably hate so they can pay bills and put food on the table. They have your details with the power to put you on a constant call loop and pass your information to other agencies.

Bit boring but don't answer calls unless I recognise the number and if the number constantly comes up I send a text asking them to text if it's important.

Me too. I never answer a call where I don't recognize the number, I have an answer phone if they want to leave a message

The only one I have wound up was a foreign man claiming to be from Microsoft saying I had a problem with my pc security. I wound him up some pretending to be concerned and doing what he said on pc., and hung up twice but he rang back and asked if I could see the monkey on the screen, I said no and he replied that I was the monkey and could I stop messing around as he was trying to do his job....x i.e. scamming people.XXX

Tell them that you are intrested to hear, but Put them on hold for 5 mins then speak for a min and do the same... I do that every time when these recruiter calling you when you not looking for jobs...

We are lucky as we don’t have a landline phone so that puts paid to the majority of cold callers .

On our mobiles we have setting s which alerts us if it’s a cold caller , so we simply don’t answer them and block them .

Can’t stand the cold callers , and I don’t give a shit if they are just doing a job they hate to put food on the table . Anyone who thinks they are alright should watch the documentary shown on BBC2 a few years back . They are very well trained to manipulate the vulnerable and as a society we really don’t need them .

I'll gladly sit and chat away politely and ask as many questions as possible until you can hear them literally trying to throttle themselves.....

For some reason they never call back.....

I say sorry no thank you and hang up. They're not doing the job to be bastards, it's just a job. Why be mean to them?

There are so many reasons .

They are intruding into your life , uninvited .

They don’t give a shit about you , you’re just a number .

They have a motive , to screw you out of money for something you didn’t want .

On a more personal level , you may be in the bath , busy cooking , having sex , or any manner of things when you get a call asking if you want this that or the other from a stranger who’s motive is to reach a set target of sales .

I could go on but I’m bored now ......

Well trained? Nope.

These are people that are desperate for jobs and just run through the same script/process 100x a day in hope one person goes for it. It’s a horrid job that I’d not wish on my enemies.

Easy to judge when you’ve never been that stuck for work/money. Blame the people that run the businesses (in my experience all dickheads)

Another trick I use is I say hold on then put on something like Angel of Death by Slayer then go back and say your call is important to me please hold

And before u start I’ve worked in call centres for the past 20 years

My thoughts exactly, thanks but no thanks. Why some feel the need to be rude or mean to someone in the course of their work, I'll never understand. Would they like someone to come to their workplace and be a twat to them, probably not. Be nice, it's really not difficult.

Central

There are wiser ways of investing your energy than causing negative impacts upon others.

Canvass your street, see if people would be interested in setting up a cold calling free zone, to stop door to door callers, that often harass vulnerable people. This is one thing that could actually help others. There are many, many other ideas.

Ordinarily I don't get into much with them other than to ask why they haven't cleaned their data against the TPS. Most don't even know what it is so the motion of them being well trained is ridiculous.

I did get one sacked the other day though for swearing at me down the phone.

I just ask them not to call again and hang up.

Thankfully I'm happy enough in my life that I don't need to be an arsehole to someone in a call centre to feel better about myself.

I've had loads recently. As an ex call centre advisor, I just wind them up. Had one indian fella from Manchester (He wasn't, location come up as a town in India) called michael. Broke him down to swearing at me and getting really pissed off and abusive. Hilarious it was.

Join the TPS and when they call take their details and tell them you are passing them onto the TPS.

They will soon hang up

I used to be called several times a month by Asian sounding callers saying they are from MICROSOFT and I have a virus on my computer. I explained that they could not see my computer through the firewall I had installed. I asked what virus it was? What operating system have I got? And other logical reasons I know it's a scam to send me a Trogen Virus. Until one day just as I was about to leave, another call came. I could not think of a clever thing to say or challenge and so just said "FUCK OFF" and the Indian voice informed me that the call was being recorded, to which I replied "GOOD I'LL SAY IT AGAIN THEN...... F U C K O F F".

I felt both disgusted at my swearing but glad I expressed my feelings. That was 4 years ago and that was my last cold call. But now I feel I have let the Genie out of the bottle and he has given me the power of Tourettes Syndrome..... lol.

Could it be that by swearing we are put on an abusive call register? if so it FUCKING works.
